Love In Control – Chapter I – Savannah (Part 1)

Jonah. Sweet, crazy Jonah.  Still haven’t gone to Paris, like he’d suggested.  Jade has tried, in subtle and not so subtle ways to take me there.  But … I just can’t.  Not yet.

    Well, if I can’t remember everything …

    Why can’t I forget?

    Fuck!!

I need something. I’m sick and tired of going down that rabbit hole!  Need something … a mental, emotional, or psychological something – a switch, that’s lying somewhere inside me, maybe, that I can flick on.  Then, voila!  The explosion and everything about it ….  erased.  Gone.

“That’s fucking debateable, Jackson!” Bette’s annoyed voice interrupted Rian’s thoughts.

The brunette was striding into this corner of the gym, and had covered the mouthpiece of her phone and mouthed to Rian, “I’ve been looking all over for you. Worried.  Are you okay?”

Rian gave her a smile and nodded. She saw that Bette was dressed in workout clothes, a fresh towel slung across the back of her neck, and she was a little flushed already. Not from a workout, maybe, but from the apparent argument with Jackson, probably.

“I want us to be clean as can be in everything we do, Jackson! You know that!” the brunette’s voice was rising in anger, eyebrows knit together, and brown eyes flashing at a distant target.  She stopped next to Rian’s seated figure, body rigid with anger.

“I don’t care what the f*&^%@k that representative is telling you …”

Rian stood up slowly. I’ll continue the self-coaching later, I guess. After a beat, she reached out to touch Bette’s forearm briefly.  Bette gave her a quick smile.

“Don’t worry about me, Rian. I’m ending the call soon… I promise,” the brunette whispered, as she covered the mouthpiece again.

“I’ve said before and I’ll say it again that I don’t want to just rely on their report, or the UN report, or anyone else’ report! That’s not a good enough effort, Jackson.  We put in $50 fucking million dollars into that education project, and I want our own auditors to write a report that will show whether or not we spent that wisely.  Full stop.  I won’t tolerate the 10% or whatever loss that everybody else is prepared to lose to bribes or whatever. If we find something, we can sue, can’t we?”

    1. Where to start Skydancer……..? You’ve taken us on some wonderful journeys, introducing us to your alluring cast of characters. In addition to your version of Bette and Tina (which I absolutely adore), you’ve let us have a front row seat into the lives of Aerin, Harley, Jade, and Rian, each deep, rich characters in their own right. Now you’ve started us on this new, exciting journey with your ensemble cast, that will hopefully end with each in control of their loves and their destinies.

I hope that when Rian finds that switch to her spotty memories, she’s ready for the consequences. Like the saying goes, “Be careful what you wish for because you just might get it.”

By the way, my mind is in overdrive with Bette at a golf course resort. Please make Bette, as she is in every other facet of her life, an excellent golfer with a low handicap. The differing sets of tees and handicap system combine to make the game an even playing field no matter the player or the location. In my opinion, there’s nothing sexier than a woman who can conquer a traditional man’s game and put a cocky man in his place. Oh, and tight golf capris won’t hurt either….just sayin’.

I’ll be sure to grab the popcorn and a nice glass of Pinot Noir before reading your next chapter. Anxiously awaiting.
