Love in Control – Chapter X – Millenial’s Kiss (Part Two)

“Oh, my gosh! Is she hurt?”

“Did she fall? I saw her fall!”

    “She all right?”

    “Do we call 911?”

    “Did she hit her head?”

“Nick, Nick! Get Sam inside! He’s a doctor, right?”

Simultaneously, Jia felt she was slipping from the warm, secure hold that had kept her from crashing to the floor as she adjusted her body. Shit. Am I going to land on my ass on the floor, all the same?

The stomping feet, clacking heels, and howls of concern re-kicked her adrenaline and anxieties into gear, and Jia reacted by reflexively tensing up, locking her arms around Tyler’s neck; and Tiler, unaccustomed to holding someone missing half a leg realized the half-leg kept threatening to slip out sideways every time Jia shifted to adjust herself. Tiler then tried to adjust her hold in response. Their individual adjustments were haphazard and weren’t working in sync, until finally Jia loosened her arms from around Tiler’s neck and started to push against the young butch, who was still trying, in vain, to re-secure her hold. Who am I kidding?

This is exactly how it happened before, countless times before, after the shark attack, during my recovery, with my ex. When I kept falling over. And then the ex finally gave up. Couldn’t take it anymore … who, as she said, couldn’t be blamed because this really would be too much trouble for any partner to cope with. All the falls, the catching, the balancing. “Plus, fuck it, why were all those guys hanging around?” the ex- blasted her, adding, “you’re so bi- it won’t

ever feel real with you, even if we somehow survive this mess….” Remembered pain from the heart-break of their split echoed.

Too difficult. Too painful. Too .. everything. Nobody can be expected to handle this stuff, the ex- had said. Maybe she was right all along. I mean, who am I kidding?

“I …I … Ti- Tiler, just let me … let me go. Please … please just release …” Jia stuttered, swallowing a sob, trying to keep her voice calm. “Just …. please… let me go.”

Tiler re-gripped, confused about Jia’s sudden change of heart, offering her a semblance of a sympathetic smile that tugged at a corner of her cherry-red lips.

    1. What a nice surprise!

I missed this story and it has been a while but I truly enjoyed reading this chapter.

I look forward to the next update!

      Thank you for coming back!

    2. Happy New Year, Sky. What a great surprise to brighten a rainy day! Since the site has been slow lately, I was rereading your earlier posts. Thanks for posting.

    3. Hello! Happy New Year, too! It’s the year of the Rooster, and I’m told that it’s a year for love, but one shouldn’t be embarking on risky or new things (in love or with other things). It seems that this year, the advice is to stick to the tried-and-true. I dunno: sometimes that works. Sometimes it doesn’t. Anyway, by any measure, this will be an extraordinary year; it already has been full of surprises. Risky and new are kinda “baked-in” already. But there’s always room for love, right? Especially if the alternative is …. no love. Now, that’s just a sad world. Who wants to live in a sad world, huh? I have a feeling I’ll be writing more. If only to re-produce the moments of love this year that I’ll want to hang on to for just a bit longer. Be well, ladies!
