Love in Control – Chapter X – Millenial’s Kiss (Part Two)

Rian was saying something else but Jia’s attention was diverted when she heard that voice swim past the buzz around her, “Hey, hey” it said urgently, from somewhere close by, very close by. Jia opened her eyes hesitantly.

“Hey,” Tiler repeated softly. She was down on one knee in front of Jia, one hand perched lightly on one side of the chair, the other palm anchored on the cement floor. She’d slipped her own sunglasses on the neckband of her jacket, and held Jia’s pair securely on the hand perched on the chair. Huh! Must have fallen from my head when I tumbled forward. Good thing Tiler rescued it from the floor before someone could trample it…

Their eyes collided again for what could have been a second or two in real time. They each felt the seconds tick by much more slowly, though — suspended in the sort of time that wasn’t measured by clocks. Eyes locked in, again: sky-blue to deep-almost-violet blue.   Talking to each other, if eyes could talk.

I could get lost in you.

    Me, too.

“You okay?” I’m sorry. Did I lose my grip on you? Damn, you’re so pretty my mind is spinning. Beautiful. Sorry, can’t help myself. In fact I was imagining our first kiss already. Is that allowed? I hope it’s allowed.

“Y-yeah. I’m…I’m, okay.” Not your fault. I panic when I lose my balance. And make a public spectacle of myself. Umm…I saw your tongue come out and lick your lips as you focused on my lips. I imagined kissing you…

“I think the kids must have run into your crutch ….” And you fell. Then I caught you. But I lost my grip for some reason. I’ll do better next time. I promise.

“Happens more often than you think.” With a nervous, self-deprecating giggle.  Damn you’re cute. And strong. Cute and strong. And, unsurprisingly, I have to fall flat on my face the first time we meet. Typical. But I bet all the girls fall flat on their faces in front of you. You licked your lips again. And you’re staring at my lips again. Has anyone ever told you that your eyes are …

“Yeah? I was hoping that it didn’t. But, hey! That happens to me, too…” the beginning of a story. I’ve had my share of prat-falls, believe me. There was this one time that was super embarrassing …

    1. What a nice surprise!

I missed this story and it has been a while but I truly enjoyed reading this chapter.

I look forward to the next update!

      Thank you for coming back!

    2. Happy New Year, Sky. What a great surprise to brighten a rainy day! Since the site has been slow lately, I was rereading your earlier posts. Thanks for posting.

    3. Hello! Happy New Year, too! It’s the year of the Rooster, and I’m told that it’s a year for love, but one shouldn’t be embarking on risky or new things (in love or with other things). It seems that this year, the advice is to stick to the tried-and-true. I dunno: sometimes that works. Sometimes it doesn’t. Anyway, by any measure, this will be an extraordinary year; it already has been full of surprises. Risky and new are kinda “baked-in” already. But there’s always room for love, right? Especially if the alternative is …. no love. Now, that’s just a sad world. Who wants to live in a sad world, huh? I have a feeling I’ll be writing more. If only to re-produce the moments of love this year that I’ll want to hang on to for just a bit longer. Be well, ladies!
