“So how are things going?” Lara directed the question at Shane.
Shane smiled “Things are really good at the moment. Business is bursting with clients, Shay has settled in nicely and Carmen is talking to me.”
“So you’re okay with…… OW Alice what the fuck?” Lara bent down and rubbed her shin. “What was that for Alice?”
“What?” alice asked innocently
Lara just frowned at her and turned her attention back to Shane who was looking at them both with a puzzled look upon her face. “I was just about to say that you are okay with her being over in New York?”
Shane nodded “Yeah, it’s hard but yeah”
“So you’re okay with her se….. OW Alice would you fucking stop booting me!”
Alice looked up from speaking to Shay “What? I’m here trying to have a convo with this little man and you keep interrupting me!”
Lara just shook her head, not noticing the look Alice was throwing her.
“Shane can we go to the skate park?” Shay asked,
“Sure. Lets get away from these two nutters!” Shane winked at him causing shay to laugh.
“Bye”

Once they were out the door Alice turned to look at Lara “Look I’m sorry”
“What was with kicking me? It hurt”
“I’m sorry but Shane doesn’t know about Carmen seeing someone new”
Lara’s eyes opened in disbelief. “But its been going on for a few months you said?”
“I know but Carmen doesn’t want her to know just yet and well I don’t know how to tell her even if I did. She is just getting her stuff back together. You saw how happy she looked, she hasn’t looked like that in a while”
“I don’t know I haven’t been here”
“Lara you had to go, they know that. I’m just glad you’re back now. And I’m sorry about kicking you. But you know sometimes you have a big mouth”
Lara laughed “Look who’s talking”
“That’s a good film” Alice winked causing them both to start laughing again.

“So who’s Lara?” Shay asked in the car on the way to the skate park.
Shane looked at Shay then back at the row of traffic in front of her. “A friend of ours.”
Shay groaned “I know that”
Shane moved the car forward as the line moved just slightly. “She used to be part of the group but moved away to San Francisco.”
“Why?”
“She is a chef”.
“Oh. Why was she so angry at Alice? That was funny.”
Shane grinned a little “Alice kicked her to keep her mouth shut. She was trying to be discreet but it didn’t work”
“Discreet?”
“When you don’t want other people knowing”
Shay scratched his head “Then why did she kick her?”
“She was telling Lara to shut up”
“But why?”
