“Hey, baby sis. What’s going on? Isn’t this a little early for you?” Kit asked as she opened the door to let Bette in.

“Not really. I’ve been up for hours. I’ve haven’t been sleeping well since…you know, Tina left.”

“Still? “

“Yeah. Anyway, can we go to the office? I have something to tell you.”

“Yes. Sure. Do you something to eat or drink? Coffee maybe?”

“I’d like some coffee.”

“You go head to the office and I’ll bring the coffee.”

Bette watched Kit set up the large coffee machine and listened as she grinded the coffee beans in the grinder and watched as Kit counted the scoops of coffee she was going to need. Kit looked over to her sister and smiled and took note at the amount of weight Bette had lost in the last few months since her breakup with Tina. Bette entered the office and sat on the couch and waited for Kit. Kit entered her office and placed the tray of coffee and food on the coffee table and sat down next to Bette.

“So, what brings you here so early in the morning? Couldn’t it wait until later this evening?” Kit asked as she handed Bette a cup of coffee.

“Actually, no, my flight leaves in three hours and I have to be at the airport at least an hour before boarding for you know, the security checks and I don’t want to get stuck on the freeway.”

“Whoa, whoa, whoa…what do you mean your flight? Are taking a vacation or a business trip for the CAC?” Kit asked.

“I’m leaving town. I’m leaving L.A.”

“Bette, but why?”

“Do you really need to ask?” Bette leaned back on the couch. Her eyes filling with unshed tears.

“Because of Tina?”

Bette slowly nodded her head and willed her tears not to fall. “I can’t be in the same city as her and not be able to see her and tell her how much I love her.”

“So, you’re giving up.” It was more of a statement than a question.

“No. I’m moving on. I’m going to try to anyway and I can’t do that here.” Bette took a deep breath and continued, “She’s made it very clear that she wants nothing to do with me. I’ve tried for four months to get her to see me, to talk to me.  She doesn’t even want to read my letters or my emails and I have to accept the fact that she’s moved on without me.”
