Matchmaker Alice challenge – I WILL SURVIVE

Alice was quick.  “Yea I think it was but why does it make you smile?  I mean do you smile every time you hear it?”

“Actually I do.  I don’t know it was just a thing my Mother and I had when we got busy with chores or stuff around the house we’d sing that song.  I think she was trying to point out to me especially in the over the top way I use to sing it that no matter how much work I had to do I’d survive.”

“Besides that was a long time ago.” Bette says getting up.  “Alice I wish I could help you but what you do on the radio is your problem.  I’m out of here.”  Turning to Tina, “See you at home later.”

With that the gang all begin to make their way out of The Planet leaving Alice hanging back still trying to figure out what she was going to do.

“Good evening all you lovely ladies of Los Angeles.  This is Alice Pieszecki your adorable radio host who will be with you through out the midnight hours.  Tonight I’m stumped.  I’ve gotten it from reliable sources that tonight needs to be a more mellow yellow kind of experience so with that in mind I’m going to run back to the seventies with you.  I would like to have you all experience the seventies anew or maybe if you’re my age for the first time.  So with no further ado I’m off to our first selection.  This is a song that brings a smile to the face of a friend of mine and that was all it took to put it at the top of my list to spin.  Here in all her glory is Gloria Gaynor with I WILL SURVIVE.”

Alice starts the tape and listens to the lead in of the song.  She’s smiling to herself because she knows Tina and Bette always listen to the start of her show before they pack it in for the night.  As uninspiring as playing the seventies feels to Alice she at least wants to have fun with it if she was going to have to be here for the duration.

    1. BRAVO Jwet! Wow, what a most creative, different and enjoyable Alice matchmaker story! The power that music and song has in connecting us to one another as well as evoking strong memories and feelings is truly an amazing thing. Okay, and being a musician I’m a total sucker for pretty much all the songs you mentioned too :) I almost didn’t read this one.. so glad I did. And I’m actually good with you leaving the story where you did. It’s nice sometimes to let ones own imagination fill in the “rest of the story” instead of always having it spelled out. Thank you for sharing your story. Very heart-warming!

    2. Wow Jwet!! This is amazing! :-D superb!! Uhm.. will there be any continuation (which would thrilled me!) or you’ll let our imagination take over?! :-/ … ;-p lol! Thanks for this wonderful story :-)
