    Melvin and Maxine

Being one of the best at parting rich people from their money, the Marketer immediately raised the stakes by one thousand dollars. An elderly woman across the room raised her paddle and so the bidding war began. Melvin stayed in the game, but soon became impatient with the continuous back and forth peddling. He sensed that his main opponent was losing steam when the bid got to $15,000 and she gave him the stink eye. He decided to end it with a final bid of $25,000 daring her to go higher which of course she did not.

He really loved the painting, and his donation was tax deductible so he didn’t mind the investment. He certainly had the bank account to support his impetuousness, but what made him want it most was having a connection to Maxine. As part of the sale Maxine would personally supervise the customized framing, and that necessitated a visit to his office so she could see where it would hang. They scheduled a time the following week for her to meet him at the law firm. After discussing the décor and agreeing on the frame he asked her to lunch.

Melvin was such a womanizer that Maxine didn’t even know what hit her before she was tangled up in an extramarital affair but she was no innocent bystander. She wanted Melvin as much as he wanted her. But Maxine was no fling; she wanted a commitment. She was at a place in her life where she wanted to get married and have a family. The heart wants what the heart wants and for whatever reason her heart wanted Melvin Porter.

As much as she knew the day would come when she and Melvin would go their separate ways it did surprise Shirley that it was Melvin who asked for the divorce. She was certainly the one with grounds but it was never a priority. She cared for her husband, but whatever love had been between them was long gone and to be honest Shirley had had enough of his philandering. Their daughter Katherine was the only thing that bound them. On the flip-side being Melvin Porter’s trophy wife wasn’t a bad place to be in the public eye. Melvin had plans to run for State Attorney General of Pennsylvania in the next election and he was also on the short list for several other appointed positions that could land him in Washington DC.

    1. Great update, enjoyed it, thanks so much. Good to read more about their back story. Sorry for Kit. Melvin was quite a character in his younger days and to think, some men really do think that behavior is alright and the wife should not say a thing about it. Happy that Maxine asked for the divorce, serves him right. DOG!!! Thanks for posting.
