“What are we buying Sheba now then ? – a diamond encrusted collar ?”
“A catnip toy “ Angie explained
“That’s a good idea – sorry for keeping you both waiting – lets go “
“Shall I make sure the kitten is okay ?”
“She will be fine – come on Angie “
Tina steered Angie to the door – Bette grabbed her wallet and keys and followed her family out of the house.

They had been in Central Park for a few minutes – Bette looked anxiously at Tina. The minute Tina had stepped outside she had changed – she was nervous – she looked around constantly. Bette hadn’t said anything about it – she had just put her arm around Tina’s shoulder – she hoped that reassured her partner. She didn’t want to say anything in front of Angie. Reaching the park Angie had run ahead like she always did.
“Angie – don’t run away – come back here “ Tina shouted
“Mommy ! “
“No arguing – come here “
Angie looked at Bette.
“There is a big dog over there – you don’t know whether it is friendly or not – just stay beside us until we get past it okay “
Angie looked across at the dog and nodded. Bette congratulated herself on her ability to think quickly. She looked at Tina
“She is okay – we never let her out of our sight”
“I know “ Tina sighed “I am jumpy “
“Understandably “ Bette took Tina’s hand “You have to know that I won’t let anything happen to you or her “
Tina nodded “I know – I can’t explain how I feel”
“Its okay – lets enjoy the Park – we usually come here when its freezing. I would like you to appreciate this wonderful place when the birds are singing and the flowers are budding “
“You love this place don’t you ?”
“It was my haven when I arrived in the city – it still is. I love walking here, I love running here – its magically “
They all walked on – Angie gradually getting a little bit in front of her mothers. Bette could see that Tina wanted to yell at her to come back but she seemed to be stopping herself. When Angie did get too far away Bette ran after her and made a joke of lifting her up and carrying her back to Tina. Finally they reached Angie’s favourite play area

I love how you always know how to interject drama and mystery in everyday stories.
Great chapter. Bette is cooking up something with Casey, hope it is something fun for Angie but I think it could be a little spy mission for Bette. Hope we can get another chapter very soon. Hopefully Bette will tell Tina about the Kennards living in such close proximity, relatively speaking. Thanks for posting.
