    The one where Bette replies to Tina’s question

    “There is nothing wrong about two people loving one another the way that we do “

    “And Angie is going to be proof – and our second child”

    Bette rubbed her face “Do you want to get married before we try for a baby or not ?”

    “I don’t mind “

    “It took you a long time the last time “

    Bette looked down at what was left of her dessert

    “I am still hungry “

    “You cannot be “

    “I am “

    Bette turned round and looked for a waiter who came across

    “Could I have a pie of fruit pie please ? “

    “Certainly “ he looked at Tina

    “Okay –  I will have the same – ice cream with mine “

    “Very good “

    Bette looked back at Tina

    “How many times did you try before you conceived Angie ?”

    This was a hard moment between them – Tina hadn’t told Bette she was trying which was why she had left without even suspecting that she was pregnant with their daughter

    “I tried twice “

    Bette nodded

    “I am not proud of not telling you “ Tina said

    “Its okay”

    “No it isn’t – I was wrong not to tell you “

    “You had your reasons “

    “In retrospect they were the wrong reasons. I was trying to protect you and it was the dumbest thing to do. I should have shown you that I had confidence in you by starting straight again. It was misplaced “

    Bette took a sip of her drink and lent back and looked over at the twinkling lights of the evening skyline – she stared into the middle distance for several minutes before looking back at the blonde

    “We have to stop saying sorry for what happened back then. We were both screwed up  – nothing was on our side – the job and Franklin and me being an ass-hole. It was the perfect storm – don’t you think that I have spend some many hours just wishing I could turn back the clock .?  don’t you think that if I could do it all again I would hire Candace or lose myself in work at the expense of you ?”

    Bette played with the glass of her drink – moving it a few millimetres back and forward.

    5. Great update. Angie will be over the moon with happiness that her mother’s are engaged to be married. And especially since she has been advocating for the marriage since learning that the legislation was a possibility for NY state. She will be bouncing off the walls. Loved the update. Thanks.
