Angie was watching Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving so when Bette and Tina sat down they all watched the last ten minutes of it together

“That was great – what can we watch now ?”

Tina took the remote and muted the TV

“We just want to talk to you for a few minutes then we can watch anything you want “

“Okay “ Angie looked between her mom’s “Its nothing bad is it ?”

“No of course “

“I better be still getting a kitten after Christmas because I have told my friends at school “

“You are still getting your new cat “ Bette confirmed – if the worst thing that Angie could imagine was NOT getting a second cat then she was a lucky little girl.

“Okay “

Bette looked at Tina. Tina took a deep breath

“Do you remember asking about grandparents ?”

Angie looked puzzled “No “

“Well last year you asked if Bette and I had parents that were still alive. Bette’s mom and dad are both dead so the only family that Bette has other than you and I is Kit “

“Kit – I like Kit “

“I know that – well Bette doesn’t have any parents any more “

Angie nodded – Bette had learnt to work out how Angie assessed things. She would be quiet until she figured things out  –  and at the moment she had no idea where Tina was going with this conversation

“But my mom and dad are still alive”

Angie nodded “You said that they didn’t like that you liked girls “

“That’s right “ Bette agreed – thank God they hadn’t told Angie that Tina’s folks were dead because as sure as hell – Angie WOULD remember that.

“Well they got in touch with Bette and Bette talked to my dad because we lost touch for a long time. Bette liked my dad and they talked – then momma B went to see my mom and dad. They came to New York and we all talked “

“Do they not mind that you love Bette ?”

“No – they know now that two women loving each other is perfectly normal “

“Good – I don’t like people who don’t like that  I have two mommies “
