“Does anyone at school say anything about you having two mommies ?”

“Just David but that’s because he’s got two daddies – he’s silly. No one else thinks that”

Bette looked at Tina who nodded  – so far so good

“So – how would you feel about meeting your grandparents ?” Bette asked

Angie shrugged “Cool – are they nice ?”

“They are – they have a dog called Tommy “

“Is it a nice dog ?”

“It is  – its very friendly – he rolls over onto his back to let you tickle his tummy”

Angie considered this and smiled “Sheba isn’t like that “

“I am sure Sheba would do that if she thought there was some chicken or turkey at the end of it “ Bette said dryly

“My parents are nice and they are very excited about meeting you “

“Are they ?”

“Yes “

Angie liked the sound of that – yet more grown ups for her to charm with her smart questions and utter lovability Bette reflected with amusement.  She didn’t have any doubt that Jack and Mary would just dote on Angie.

“Do they mind that you are not with a boy ?” Angie asked

“No – they know that Bette and I are together and that I love Bette and she loves me”

“Do they know that you are getting married ?”

“Yes and they are excited for us “

Angie nodded and looked hopefully at the TV.

“Do you have any questions about them ?” Bette asked

“Not really – can I watch the Charlie Brown thing again ?”

Tina handed the remote back to Angie and looked at Bette. Well that was it – Angie had taken it in her stride as she did most things.

“Is there any more pumpkin pie ?” Angie asked as she channel hoped

Bette laughed “You will explode “

“I won’t “

“You might “

“No “ Angie shook her head and found a cartoon to watch. Bette shrugged at Tina  – well that was that. Angie now knew about her grandparents and seemed fine about them. What they now had to do was to find a time when they could come to the city to meet their grand-daughter. Obviously if everyone was as cool as Angie it would be fine.
