No Good Deed Goes Unpunished Chapter 28
Bette nodded, no longer hiding the tears that had begun to fall.
Sara: And every once in a while Bette, let Tina take care of you.
Bette: I’m going to miss you.
Sara tried as best she could to smile.
Sara: I’ll be with you. With all of you really.
Bette: Thank you for everything.
Sara: Answer me one question Bette.
Bette: anything.
Sara: Did you ever love me the way you love Tina?
Bette wasn’t sure how to respond . Of course she loved Sara. But she had never loved anyone or anything in the same way she loved Tina.
Bette: I umm, I
Sara knew the answer and maybe it was best to never actually hear it.
Sara: I know Bette. Nevermind.
The two starred at each other for a few moments, neither really knowing what to say now.
Bette: I don’t want to say goodbye to you.
Sara changed the subject leaving Bette confused and saddened.
Sara: Can you get the others? I would like to see them.
Bette bowed her head before turning to exit the room. When she got to the doorway she looked over her shoulder giving Sara the strongest smile she could muster.
Bette reached for the door ***** slowly turning it. The slower she turned the more time she had to figure out what to say.
Alex: Bette, will you please tell these two that I do not scream for Ricky Martin in my sleep.
Bette didn’t answer.
Tina noticed how pale her girlfriend was and rushed quickly to her side.
Tina: Babe? What’s wrong?
Again Bette remained silent, still searching for words.
Alice: Porter, what’s going on?
Bette: Umm, its uhh
Tina reached for Bette’s hand quickly calming her.
Bette: Sara. It’s uhh, time.
Alice: Oh no.
Alice reached her hand out for Alex’s. The two embraced as tightly as they could. Seeking comfort wherever it was to be found.
Tina: Come on.
With Tina’s hand in her own Bette led the way to Sara’s bedroom. Each silently thinking of their own to say goodbye and make peace with this. They arrived to find Janice standing at the edge of the bed holding three separate pill bottles.
Janice: I have to flush these.
Alice: Huh?
Janice: She’s umm
Bette: Gone. She’s gone.
Tina squeezed Bette’s hand while Alice fell into Alex. All four cried for their friend. But Bette silently thanked her. Even until the very end Sara was looking out for her. This way Bette never had to say goodbye.

Why must the good ones always go first? I was expecting this to come up eventually, but wow flair. You did an amazing job. Sarah died the way she lived, and you perfectly portrayed that. Thank you.

Dear Rachel, even if what I’m crossing made me unable to comment anything for so long, for you I find the strength tonight to do it – ever if I cannot promise I’d be able to do it again.Because tonight I had to express few things, the best I can…I SO deeply agree with whatBetteAndTinaForever wrote : your story is such a gem. But I think you already know for a long time now that you were, you are and no doubt you’ll still be my favorite author here.I was ready to wait as long as it needed to see your name appearing again in the updates list, but you also knew it – don’t you ? Alas, when this so happy day came, my darker journey already began, paralysing all the best in me.I wished so much to express my total gratitude to all these wonderful authors here for the daily gift of their great stories – something that is more than ever an huge support in my life. One of the last.At least I finally bring myself together for a while to express it to you, my so talented queen of drama.BR>Do you have any idea how much your writer’s skins succeed on my mood tonight ? Because you simply made me cry rivers for something else but myself. And that, dear Rachel, is a true and powerful writing’s talent. As well as a life’s lesson. At last, let me also express how much I’m happy for you who finally gloriously succeed in the most essential audition ever, on life’s big stage, winning a shared love. I wish you the most beautiful life on this new “yellow brick road” : be happy, dear talented Rachel. That was what I hoped so much for you and I’m so delighted it happened. I mean it.And, once more, thank you SO much for keeping this masterpiece of yours alive – from the bottom of my so sensitive heart.Thank you, Rachel. A lot.
