No Me Ames; #15
Bette and I took each day we had together as a blessing; a blessing of undeniable love. We knew that the future was always going to be uncertain for the both of us, but there was always hope. And that’s what kept us going forward.

I managed to leave work a little early that day; Alice understood that I needed to bring Becky home early. I begrudgingly reheated some leftovers from yesterday and started making a simple salad for dinner, awaiting Bette’s return home.
The moment the locked turned, Becky dashed towards the door, nearly colliding into her Mummy. She jumped up and down excitedly as Bette dropped her bags and lifted her off the ground.
“Hello, angel,” she said, kissing Becky on her cheeks as Becky wrapped her arms around Bette’s neck, “I missed you.”
“Mummy,” Becky replied, giggling, “Why’s your face so cold?”
“It’s cold outside, sweetie,” Bette explained, setting Becky down onto the floor, “Now, what’s Mama got for dinner?”
“Meatloaf!” Becky exclaimed, running into the kitchen as Bette followed behind her, giving me a kiss. Becky was right, her lips were as cold as ice.
“Baby,” I asked, placing my hands on the sides of her face, “Are you feeling alright?”
“I’m fine,” Bette replied, coughing a little and rubbing her nose, “It’s just a little cold outside, that’s all. Don’t worry about me.”
“Should we take your temperature or something?”
Bette moved my hands away from her face, placing gentle kisses on each of them, “I’m fine, honey, let’s have dinner ok?”
I nodded, trying to brush away this nagging feeling that had started to bother me, “Becky, come help Mama bring out the plates.”

Bette sneezed again, blowing her nose before shifting her position on the pillows again. I reached out to her, holding her close, “Baby,” I asked again, “Are you sure you’re feeling alright?”
She sniffed, taking my hand in hers, “I’m fine, it’s probably just a cold or something.”
“Yes, but Doctor Michaels said that because of your condition you should…”
She turned towards me, looking deeply into my eyes, “I took my medication, and I’m feeling a little cold. That is normal. Please, don’t worry about me.”

E, can I say you know how to pack a punch,,LOL….I am thinking that you better know how to block really good cause zheese is gonna hit,,haha with this latest chapter that you just posted. As much as I love these two characters in this story, and want everything to be perfect in reality nothing ever is,, and you have written it on how you see them and that is what counts. I loved this chapter cause there was love, love, friendship and then pain.
Dang euni you’re killing me here. I love this story, but it’s truly depressing the hell out me. I hate to say this but will it be over soon? Because I don’t know how much my heart can take. You’ve done an excellent job in writing this. I just find it hard to read at times. But if you write more of it, I’ll read it. Thanks for the update.
Well…do I dare say I’m glad the story isn’t ending soon? Eeks… I guess I’ll say I’m happy we will be able to read your incredible writing/story longer – despite the gosh awful pain inherent in the topic. I hope Helena can hang in there for Bette… It has to be so unbearably painful.
Bette knew. When time gets near. You know. The pain for both the caregiver and the one that needs care it so hard.No one knows what pain Bette is go through are will go through. Thanks so much for bring the to the light for so many. will wait for your next post.

As much as I would like it to be different, I know that at some point it is inevitable but it is kind of painful to read. PPS
