    “I’m sorry” She whispered as her fingers tangled in the blonde locks that fit some reason felt .. foreign. “I’m so sorry for everything. I love you. I’ve always loved you” Bette’s fingers continued to sift through Tina’s hair, her eyebrows knitting together in confusion. The normally silky soft hair felt nothing like she was

    Bette’s fingers continued to sift through Tina’s hair, her eyebrows knitting together in confusion. The normally silky soft hair felt nothing like she was used to. There was something very weird about it, like it almost felt .. fake.

    Was that right? Maybe Tina had switched conditioners?

    Bette also realized that her arm around Tina’s waist felt different too, the frame more slender than she knew it to be. Something was wrong but given Bette’s intoxicated state, she rationalized that the alcohol in her system had to have been impairing her senses.

    Still, Bette pulled back with a desire to seek out Tina’s comforting hazel eyes. It was the only thing she was convinced could put her at ease and settle her panicked mind.

    She blinked to correct her double vision and saw that the face staring back at her was nothing like Tina’s. The lips that were shaped differently, cheekbones a little too low to resemble those of Tina’s. Then there were the eyes.

    The shape was all wrong and the color .. was not hazel at all.

    They were green.

    Oh no ..

    Those eyes, those green catlike eyes lit up with excitement and Bette had absolutely no idea what to do. She stood there, frozen as if the ground were about to swallow her whole.

    One could only hope.

    “Oh Bette ..” Emma breathed as she cupped the brunette’s flushed cheeks, her kiss swollen lips forming a wide smile. “I love you, too. I’ve wanted to say it for a while now but I was worried I’d scare you off. I’m so glad you said it first, can’t tell you how happy it makes me”

    Bette was horrified, her gaze darting back and forth between Emma’s bright emerald eyes.

    In her eagerness to fix her mistakes, Bette completely ignored any rational thinking and let herself be driven by her desires.

    How could she have made such a mistake? How could she not have known from the start that the woman she’d been following hadn’t been the one she’d actually wanted to make amends with?

    Then again .. how could she have known? Why was Emma wearing Tina’s costume anyway? And-

    Oh God, Tina.

    How would Bette explain any of this? She’d just told Emma that she loved her. Granted, Bette thought she was talking to Tina at the time but could she really say that?

    And why was the room spinning?

    “Bette? Baby, are you okay?” Emma gently stroked Bette’s cheeks with her thumbs, her eyes filled with concern” You look really pale”

    She looked at the brunette with such gentleness, so much love.

    That was when Bette decided that she couldn’t lie her way out of this one. It wouldn’t be fair to Emma or to Tina. She had to tell the truth, no matter what it cost her.

    “Emma-”

    A flash lit up the entire hall and nearly blinded the women, easily gaining their attention.

    “Bette Porter” A man Emma recognized to be one of the many paparazzi that had intruded on her party held his camera up as he grilled Bette, “Is this the woman you’ve been having an affair with? What’s her name? Does Emma know?”

    Emma immediately snatched off her mask and nearly growled at the man, “It’s me, you perv. You’re interrupting a very private moment, can you leave? I’ll pose for pictures later”

    Whether it was the sudden bright light, the stress of the situation, the alcohol or a combination of everything altogether but Bette simply stared at the man as a very uncomfortable sensation settled in her throat.

    “Bette” Emma asked again with that same concern, her focus once more on the brunette. “Are you-”

    Her jaw dropped as Bette threw up. All over her.

    Lucky for them, the paparazzo was there to catch the moment on camera.

    Best party ever.

Ok this is by far my favorite story lol.. there so much going on and strong love that just can’t catch a break… and Emma has to be the most blind person I know.. how all this time she hasn’t figured out Tina is the ex and Bette loves her.. lol. She forget the costume she has on is not her own and taste Bette breath to know there is no way in hell she could have known it was her. She is so freaking shallow and you dont love Bette she dont fit in to your world at all. Lol love love love your story. thank you.

    8. I was reading this chapter again and realized I didn’t end up leaving a comment the first time so I had to say just how much I am absolutely LOVING this story!

      I knew there was gonna be a good old switch as soon as they were alone in that bathroom but reading it through was better than I could have imagined!

      Poor Bette, she’s not gonna get out of this one that easy. Thanks for continuing this story and please please post soon!

      Hope you’ve got the new chapter just about ready to go!! You are super talented and I was floored by the fact that some of the lines you used in this story were actually used in GenQ before it even aired (“no, *you* need space”). Keep up the good work and looking forward to more!

    18. Ahhhh oh my god. I hope she can tell Tina and Alice tells Tina Bette was going to her I hope she understands that Bette wouldn’t do that with Emma. But ahhhh I can’t wait for the next chapter. Oh I really hope you will continue this fic but I hope Tina will understand that it was the mask change that threw her off and they can finally finally just be together.
