Out of sync
Upon learning of Tina’s deception Bette’s pain was palpable and her regret immeasurable. Her affair had broken them apart but her conviction to take care of her family was unmovable. She made arrangements for Tina to move into an apartment which she paid for, and insisted on being a part of the baby’s life. Tina resisted at first but in her eighth month she had a change of heart. She let Bette back in to form a new partnership where they would co-parent their child. Just before the baby was born Tina declared that she wanted them to be a family living together. She moved back into the house with Bette, but try as they might they could not get past the broken trust to find their way back completely to one another. With their main focus being on parenting, they never effectively coped with the reasons why their seven year marriage ended with adultery; nor did they take time to heal from it.
As was typical of Bette and Tina even in the best of times they were not speaking the same language. When they reunited Tina’s need was practical in that she wanted Bette’s financial support and help in caring for the child rather than any desire or commitment to being Bette’s life-partner again. Bette’s need was emotional; grateful to have a second chance at the life she’d almost thrown away by having the extramarital affair.
With the birth of their daughter Bette and Tina’s dream of having a family was within their grasp, but they ignored that the darkest period that either of them had experienced in their lives had gradually taken its toll. For the Kennard-Porter family the dream quickly unraveled into a living nightmare as everything spiraled out of control.
***
Without intending it Bette had failed Tina yet again by not showing any desire or motivation to seek gainful employment, preferring instead to take on passion projects and staying home with their daughter. Tina saw it as Bette not contributing, instead of realizing that life events had moved Bette to shift her priorities. Rather than embracing and supporting Bette’s emotional need to cultivate her familial relationships having just lost her father to cancer and coming close to losing her partner and daughter Tina turned against Bette with the same hostile intensity that she’d exhibited when she’d first discovered Bette’s adultery.

BAT I’m with you so far…..please have a better version than what I saw……
Dee22 – if you haven’t read this story before you’re in for a ride. It will be very different from what we saw on the show. That’s a promise. Stay with me.
So glad you are going to change it. Thanks, enjoyed it
Thank you. Changes are coming soon.
Still here and looking forward to your ‘spin’ on the story :)
Thanks as always for the post.
SassyGran thanks for sticking with the story. There will be a few surprises on the way.
This story makes me sad, i will read it but it is so hard. As a true Tibetter i think it is better that they break up and try to find them selves. Bette made one big mistake and she paid dearly for that.
But Tina is not the innocent poor woman, she is one evil bitch who destroyed Bette with her behaviour.
Ugh, i hate season three! !! But i will stick around.
Bibi28 – I know it’s hard. I won’t be reliving S3 for too much longer. The story will take a turn in a few chapters. Thanks for sticking with me.
Really hated Tina in S3 and how she threatened Bette and I know that I also do not like her at the beginning of your story. Granted Bette cheated but she paid for it and let Tina walk all over her and humiliate her in public. Tina for her part, in my opinion, didn’t take any responsibility for the failure of their relationship and as it wasn’t bad enough that she dated Helena Peabody now she is working for her and helps her to invade herself with their friends. At least Bette is aware of the fact that she should not let Tina treat her like she does any longer and that she has to put herself together without Tina’s help. So looking forward to your next post, and thank you so much for posting this exceptional story.
as1219. I’m so glad to see you reading and commenting on this story. You were an integral part of it when I originally posted. I totally agree about how Tina treated Bette. Bette’s affair was a betrayal but Tina’s revenge was evil. She did everything in her power to break Bette and almost succeeded. As you know I can’t abide a broken Bette. She’s going to come back better than ever. :-)
BETTE should have been the happiest woman in WE-HO but HELENA/TINA made her look like a fool.TINA kept the screws in BETTE until that cybersex hic-cup and now alpha BETTE is loose.TINA needs to feel safe again but she goes overboard in this season.pps thanks
dunnthat – So true. I hated that Bette allowed herself to be so manipulated by Tina and Helena and later by Jodi. I think that’s why I always write a very strong Bette, but her heart is her character and you can’t get away from that. Thanks for sticking with the story. If you haven’t read it before I think you will enjoy the ride once we get over these hurdles.
