    Passing the torch….Thanksgiving Day Challenge

Bette walked into The Planet after an hour of Alice begging her through various text messages and phone calls.  Her determination to get Bette’s attention had even driving James insane as he scribbled down various ‘Alice-isms’ demanding Bette’s time.

Bette looked at her watch as she ventured to Alice’s table, her scowl greeting Alice’s confident smile.

“Well, The Planet hasn’t burned down,” Bette said, sitting across from her friend.  “What’s the big emergency?”

“Tina.”  Alice leaned back straightening her button down shirt and placing her glasses firmly on her nose to begin her negotiations.  She scowled at Dana when she began to chuckle and turned away.

    “What’s wrong with Tina?”

“You’ve talked to her recently, yes?”  Alice folded her hands neatly on the table and leaned into Bette’s space.  She had studied the previous night on negotiation techniques and forced Dana into practicing them until she was confident to face Bette.  “I’m really thinking of her, with the holidays coming up…”

“What is going on?  I truly don’t have a lot of spare time however entertaining this might prove to be.”

“It’s really a rite of passage,” Alice continued, tapping a pencil on the table in front of her.  “A journey from the kids’ table to the big girls’ table so to speak.”

“I wish you’d speak English,” Bette pleaded.

“Thanksgiving is in a few short days, Bette, have you looked at your calendar lately?”

“Yes, given the holiday I have two days off of work that I plan on enjoying this week.”

“Not if we have our traditional Thanksgiving festivities,” Alice reasoned, seeing Bette’s interest peak and enjoying her progress thus far.  “How long have you and Tina been a couple, let’s just overlook the ‘sitting on Candy’s face’ period since you finally reconciled and go for the grand sum?”

Bette stared at Alice, truly befuddled at where this conversation was going.

“As you know Alice, we’ve been together almost fourteen years.  If this is a lesson in thankfulness, I have it covered.  Tina and I have never been better.”

“And how is her schedule, Bette?”  Alice smiled, knowing she was leading Bette back into the proverbial corner.

    1. Classic Gumby…clever, fun, witty! Alice is hysterical! Love it Gumby…thanks! For the past 10 years, we go to my sister’s sister-in-law’s…TERRIBLE cook. We don’t have the heart to tell her…so we eat Chinese BEFORE going over to her house. LOL

    2. Pulling off a holiday meal with all the trimmings is hard work. Thank goodness the takeways are open here practically year round! Lenore (and Tina) had the right idea. ;) Thanks for the post!

    3. I like the version of your story with all the girls alive and well and funny as hell. So Tina was very crafty with her Thanksgiving Dinner and Bette knew this but let Alice act of though she was doing them favor by taken over the meal, and then her and Dan end up making out instead of preparing the meal. I wish I had a little more of Angie in the story though.

    4. I’m ROTFL at the scene in Alice’skitchen. Tina Bette is one heck of an actresses..Imagine all the pref just so they have a “Perfect” Thanksgiving? Thanks for the one off. ^_^

    5. Aren’t these ff challenges great?
