Bette started crying again. And like a good big sister, Kit rocked her and let her get it all out.
Neither of them heard Bette’s phone ding.
“Listen to this…,” Tina said into the phone.
“Hi. The show is doing extremely well. Completely sold out and we’ve received great publicity. Yes, it wraps in 3 weeks. And then KiKi’s installation. James will be in Vancouver next week to prepare and ship the pieces we picked. Fingers crossed KiKi doesn’t try to change anything else. I have been eating. Shane shows up like clockwork with bags of food and random items magically appear in the refrigerator. Apparently, they don’t want to find out what “or else” means. How are you? I hope the shoot went well.
Then she signed it B. B! Is that for Bette or Baby? Ugh!” Tina exclaimed.
“Tina, why are you so agitated about this text? I thought you wanted more communication from Bette,” Julia asked.
“I doooo but what does it mean?”
Tina exhaled loudly.
“It sounds like she cracked the door a little. But it is not your place to kick it down or barge in. It’s your job to make her want to open it a little more each time. Remember, you are being patient and allowing her to come to you instead of you charging at her,” Julia said.
“I don’t charge,” Tina huffed.
Tina rolled her eyes.
“Let her come to you. At her pace. On her terms. Show a little resistance. Be patient,” Julia said as she ended their session.
Tina stared at the Fawn print for a very long time after she got off of the phone with Julia.
“Show a little resistance,” Tina mocked Julia and ran her hand through her hair.
Patience was not one of her virtues. Tina was famous for spoiling surprises, jumping to conclusions, blowing up at the smallest things, opening presents early and for basically, being a brat. Bette called her out one Valentine’s Day.
“Baby! Is it time for presents yet?” Tina asked a little too excitedly.
“Nope. You have to wait. Three days,” Bette kissed her on the forehead.
“Ugh!!!!” Tina groaned.
She had searched the house for days and hadn’t found her present. Bette came home early the day before Valentine’s Day and the house was ransacked. Bette went to the bedroom and Tee was lying under the covers.
