Perspectives, Bette Chapter 17
“T?” I call out to her in a panic. Is she really here with me? Or am I still in the middle of some kind of nightmare? I make sure my eyes are open and glance around the room.still black. She’s not answering. “Tinawhere are you?”
“I’m right here Babe, right in front of you.” Her words sound matter-of-fact, as if I should be able to see her. “Bette, are you alright?”
I hear her voice and try to focus on where it’s coming from. “Tina,” I tell herstill searching, “I can’t see.” Is this temporary? Will I ever see her face again? I don’t think I can survive not being able to look into her eyes again. “I can’t see youI can’t see anything. Everything is black.dark. What’s happening to me T?” I ask her frantically for help. As I begin to feel the tears tickle down my cheeks I cry out one last exasperated statement. “I don’t understand what’s happening. Thelp me.”
“Babe, I’m right here,” she assures me. I feel her hand gently caress my cheek, spreading the moist tears across it. The scent of her skin permeates my nostrils as I instinctively close my eyes again and inhale through my nose. “Let me go get the doctor. He’ll be able to tell us what’s going on.” Go get the doctor? That means she has to leave to go somewhere else.
“No, Tplease don’t leave me,” I plead. Her skin against mine feels warm and naturallike she’s supposed to touch me. I need to feel herevery part of her. I need to see her.her smile and her shining brown eyes.
“Okay Baby, I’ll stay right here. Let me just find the call button.” Her soft, gentle voice slows my racing heart. I feel my breathing settle as she nudges my bed looking for the button.
“Is everything okay in here?” A man’s voice bellows from the beyond Tina. “I was just walking by and the nurse told me you buzzed,” he explains. “Ahhhh, I see our patient is awake. Well, Ms. Bette Porter, my name is Doctor Clarke.” He sounds cheerful enough. Maybe he can tell me why I can’t see anything.
“She can’t see anything,” Tina tells him. “I was hoping that you could tell us what’s wrong.”

Wonderful to have you back. To be very selfish here glad that you are going to try and write more. Oh and I’ve been looking for a guide – put my name down in one of the follower slots!
I know I’m late to the comment party, but I just wanted to say THANK YOU for updating. I really enjoy this story. There are so many levels and layers that you peel away by telling different angles of the same story. Please keep it going.
