“Here you go ladies, now don’t say I don’t feed you.”

Alice grabbed one, tore it in half and started to eat; the other two women just looked at each other, half way through a mouthful Alice broke the silence.

“Jesus one of you say something, it won’t kill you.”

“Errm hi, I’m Dana.”

“Shane.”

Alice looked between the two and shrugged.

“Okay that went well. Shane this is Dana, don’t worry she knows.”

Shane just nodded and drank her coffee, she noticed that Alice had finished her food and her hands were free, she instantly went to grab one, holding onto it she smiled at the blonde a little and settled back in her chair. Dana was about to protest about the hand holding but she noticed an almost peace wash over the other woman, it was as if the contact with Alice was calming Shane down.

“Okay, so she knows, guess she can stay then. How’s your nose?”

“Oh you know, I’ll get over it.”

“How much he want?”

“A lot.”

Shane nodded at this; she was running her thumb lightly over Alice’s hand.

“How much we got?”

“Not even half.”

“Shit.”

“Yeah tell me about it.”

“How long we got?”

“Well you see that’s were the problem is.”

“Why?”

“I errm…”

“Alice what you do?”

“I told him this was the last time. He laughed, punched me for my cheek and to teach me a lesson he’s only given a week.”

“What!?”

“I’m sorry.”

“No, I told you, you never have to be sorry for anything.”

Shane held onto Alice’s hand, sighing and looked at Dana with a smile.

“Well that’s Alice for you, never predictable.”

“And you love me for it. Don’t worry we’ll figure something out.”

Alice got up from the table; she bent to kiss Dana on the cheek and walked off to the bathroom. Dana looked at Shane and saw that she was following Alice with her eyes through the café.

“You’re in love with her aren’t you?”

Shane looked at Dana and smiled.

“You can’t know Alice and not be in love with her. I adore her in everyway.”

“So you love her?”

“I did. I used to hope that one day she’d look at me differently, take me in her arms for something more than comfort. It never happened and I accepted it. You know, I’ve got no idea why I’m telling you this.”

“I promise I won’t tell.”

Shane laughed at this, she was wary of Dana at first but somehow she felt like she could open up to the brunette.

“We love each other, just not like that.”

Dana sighed and smiled at Shane, all the jealousy and anger she had felt towards the other woman washed away, she’d been handed a tough deal and it took someone as wonderful as Alice to see beyond the hard exterior and help her out. Just then Alice wandered back to the table and sat with a grin.

“So how are my girls?”

Dana and Shane looked at each other with a smile.

“We’re fine Al. Haven’t been fighting over you if that’s what you think.”

“What? Not even a little ‘stay away from my girl’? Shane I’m disappointed in you.”

“Well what can I say; I’m ready to share you. Thing is Al what are we gonna do? We haven’t got enough cash and we’re shit out of time.”

Dana had been thinking about this for awhile now, she lent over the table and looked at the other women.

“You see, there I have an idea.”
