Planet Terror meets Catherine the Great

The guards began to blow their whistles in short, sharp bursts. Anyone who had been sleeping awoke—their brains had been trained to respond to just these sounds.

“Motherless fuckers!” Jenny ran up to see the trouble. Each night she tried to talk to people about a group of renegade army rejects who might come to steal their supplies. Each night, people dismissed her as crazy. No one was sure who the motherless fuckers were—the ones in the distance or the ones who had ignored Jenny’s words of warning.

“All right, listen up!” Bette gathered everyone in a tight circle. “We spread out, hiding in the points beyond where we marked off explosive areas. I’m going to put the remaining mines in the center of our site—I know it seems risky, but this is our best hope. I have a formation in mind and I’ll stick to it and deactivate the mines when this whole fucking thing passes. Hopefully, they’ll all set off, and get rid of these assholes.” She looked up. “I’m thinking that from the sound and distance, there are at least 200 of them. I’m guessing that they’re out to steal our supplies, like Jenny said.”

“So we spread out, with all of our guns. I’m going to go in among the barricades and plant some of my experiments, ok Bette?” Alice had been playing with explosives—a scary prospective, but one that seemed to have provided them with a fair amount of extra weaponry.

Guns, bottles, rags, lighters, and gasoline, bullets, and every sharp object within reach, were brought to the edges of the beach. Bette could see that from the center, where the moon shone the lightest, the periphery of the beach looked eerily deserted—deserted, but something lurked there. Let those assholes think that the infected were everywhere, she thought.  Bette planted the explosives in a broad X shape. Alice coated the barricades with gasoline, in addition to planting some major homemade bombs.

The sounds grew louder in the distance. Why were they moving so quickly?—Bette wondered. She couldn’t hear engines of any sort. It sounded like horses pulling carriages, and a thousand marching men. She stood and watched for awhile longer before she saw something that nearly made her lose her mind. Bette pressed her hands hard to her mouth to stop the rising sickness.

    1. I was going to tell you what I thought but I got interupted and forgot what I was going to say. Oh, yeah, good riddance Jodi. We know Jenny went to the carnval, but was she ever IN the circus (like Daniela Sea). I mean not every girl learns to fling knives with such accuracy. Gee, you made ME laugh out loud a few times. Back to high school are we? Could get ugly. Especially as everyone naturally prefers Helena and Bette as leaders to Catherine.

    2. Ok, first thing, I was seriously laughing at the “Missing Reel”, that was hilarious! Second thing, I totally love this story, the gore, the violence, Jenny being even more twisted (“Motherless f*ckers!” LOL!), the nail-biting tension… and (yeah, I’m gonna say it, TiBetting gods have mercy on my traitorous soul) even the — actually, especially the — Helebette/Belena (what’s the proper word for it?) relationship. Thirdly, please, don’t even *think* about not continuing the story now. I’m all hooked, and I need to see Helena and Bette kick infected ass. Many thanks for the post, I’ll have to read your other stories now… Cheers!

    3. It’s 28 Days Later with humour! What’s not to love? If only IC gave us fantasy sequences like Planet Terror instead of those dreadful manatee/circus interludes. As on the show, Catherine’s hold over Helena remains one of the world’s greatest unsolved mysteries.

    4. Oh my mind is just so confused, I’ve been writing Belena all day now I’m reading about Bette and Helena saving the world from the infected, I love them all, Alice and Lara (sigh) and Shane, even Jenny wielding knives and being all dark and Jenny-like, please write more, I’ll read it and it’ll fulfill my need for tension and bio-terrorism sub plots .. Lol, oh man, so confused and I’m still missing Tina, even though her brain was infected, and I somehow doubt her ability to wield a machine gun, oh and LOL @ jp22 and the TiBetting gods having mercy on her traitorous souls – I’m with you, Sofa x

    5. Ok, now this is some seriously scary shit! I don’t even look at scary movies, but I am enjoying the hell out of this damn story! =) You damn near gave me a heart attack when the motherless f*cker almost bit my girl, Bette. I am literally sitting on the edge of my chair, legs shaking and face almost molded with the monitor. I am just waiting to see where you are going with this story. So far, it is great! Usually, I love action movies, but this story has action and gore and romance and I love it all! Keep it up, please!

    6. thanx 4 updating so soon itz great – im luvin it! i luv the whole bett n helena in controll thing – can’t wait 2 see how catherine will take that.

    7. Wow, I’m having fun with your wacky story! I like Alice as an explosives expert. How are you going to get them all out of this mess? Now, bring up some lesbian drama as well as the gory fighting scenes… Btw, sex after having a concussion sounds tough to me. Bette must be some strong woman. Thanks for posting and do continue, please.

    8. IC may own the whole entire universe including your couch and tv but she sure as hell doesn’t own THIS universe! Very funny and gross again – you had me scared that Bette was going to buy it.
