    Real Tibette – Thanksgiving 2023

Tina gave her a big hug and said in her ear, ‘Maybe have a drink before you go in?’

Shane chuckled, then switched so that she was whispering in Tina’s ear. ‘I think they’d smell that,’ she said, ‘but I’ve got a few gummies.’

‘Knock ’em dead,’ said Sonny. ‘Or maybe not. Jo might be attached to them.’

‘Thanks,’ Shane grinned, hoisting her bag higher on her shoulder. ‘I love you all. Have a great time.’

A chorus of ‘we love you too’ followed her to the door, and then they all stood on the stoop, waving to Jo, blowing kisses and barking (just Solly, that one), until Shane was in the car and they drove off.

‘God, I’m so happy for them!’ Tina said, waving. ‘They’re so—’

She turned to speak to Bette – or Kit, or anyone really – but they’d all left. So she just glanced up the street, as if that was what she’d come out to do, and then went back inside too.

School for Sasha was still the City and Country school, about a half-mile walk away. Ben, however, had transitioned to the very grandly named Stephen T. Mather Building Arts & Craftsmanship High School in Midtown. He was thrilled about this. Bette was . . . not. Aside from the three-mile drive (‘I can bike it, Mom!’ ‘Not till you’re sixteen.’), the chances of his attending an Ivy (‘Any Ivy, Tina, I am not a monster, he can decide which one’) were fading. But sometimes, Bette reminded herself, they had to take the win that was on offer: Angie was academic, Ben was good with his hands, and Sasha . . . oh God, Sasha.

After dropping her youngest off, Bette had popped into Trader Joe’s when her phone got a message. ‘What the hell . . .?’ she murmured, frowning at the screen as people brushed past, trying to get to the milk and yogurt.

Then the phone rang. A photo of Tina popped up, dressed like Fran Leibowitz, with Fran Leibowitz, at Peggy Peabody’s Halloween party.

    ‘Yeah, hi.’

    ‘What the fuck, Bette?’

    ‘I know, I . . . Where are you?’

‘At school. I just dropped Ben. You saw the message?’

    ‘Yeah, I—’

    ‘Where are you?’

      • Hi Dumplin!
Yes, I’m enjoying the family growing up – working out what the kids are into and how having Alice in NY affects things. There’s a lot of moving parts. Thanks for taking the time to read it and comment. Means a lot.
        Take care

    4. Largo,
I correct the previous comment . . . DISagree that U have been “arrogant” by calling this masterpiece as “REAL”. Pfff! It certainly I S that!!!

Authors on this site have enraptured us with exquisite insight in filling gaps that were not revealed in TLW nor GenQ.

      BaddAss Writers U r!!!!

    5. This was so needed, missed & delicious to deavour.

Excellent writing as per your usual postings.

Tibette has so perfectly fit themselves into each other & draw such strength from one another.

And Angie, trying her hardest to find the right fit & balance in her life & love. Hopefully we’ll get to read in the not to distant future who she meets & really falls in love with.

Overall, a gem & this will join all your other endeavours as my all, time favorites.

Thanks for making our holidays a bit more grateful & joyful.

      All my best.

          Take care my friend.

          • Thank you for your lovely comments. It means so much to me that you enjoy this Tibette world. I like writing them as a solid team in, as you say, a big messy family, just filled with love and support. Everything we never, ever, saw on the show.
            Thanks, friends
            Largo
