    Chapter 1/ Carmen gets home

    *beep* This Is Carmen Morales I am not available at the moment please leave a message and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible

     

    As soon as I heard her voice I froze. I stared at the paper I wrote with everything I wanted to say, I’d rehearsed it over and over and now I’m just….frozen. The paper begins getting blurry and I notice I’ve been holding my breath and I start choking out sobs.

     

    Shay: Are you okay?

    I quickly hang up the phone and wipe away my tears.

     

    Shane: yeah, sorry did I wake you up

     

    Shay: no, I had a nightmare

     

    Shane: alright I’ll go in and tuck you in

     

    I tuck in Shay and read him a story. I watched him a while, looking at him carefully, how he looked a lot like me, then my mind couldn’t help but wonder off to how different it would be if Carmen were here…. I notice I’m crying again and I cover my mouth and leave so I wont wake Shay. I look at the clock 1:28AM

     

    Shane: 2 months 6 Days.

     

    8 AM

    I dropped shay off at school and stopped at The Planet just to get coffee, sad that this used to be my favorite hang out place and now it’s just a blur of the morning.

     

    Bette: Hey Shane, come join us!

     

    Tina is sitting beside her feeding baby Angie: Yeah come on we hardly ever see you anymore

     

    Shane: I can’t I have an early appointment at WAX

    I quickly head for the door, before they can question me. That was a lie, I didn’t have an appointment until 4, my friends, my family now just a blur of the morning

      

    CARMEN

     

    Someone is jumping at the end of my bed, I open my eyes and see a small little boy on the bed jumping screaming “wake up! Wake up!”  Then I see Shane appear and she gives me a big smile. The boy keeps jumping.

     

    I open my eyes suddenly to see Riley jumping on the edge of my bed

     

    Riley: you’re awake!!

    She jumps on top of me

    2. So Shane sort of wrote herself a script before calling Carmen… how adorable is that? Carmen should know better than to mix business and pleasure. Luckily we have Shay to say whatever crosses his mind with such perfect timing ;)
