    Remember When…Chap4

    Remember When

    Chapter 4

It’s been 3 days since the shooting. Tina has not left Bette’s side. The rest of the girls come and go, seeing as their not allowed to go in to see Bette. They also take turns staying with Angie, because they want to make sure Angie is occupied so she doesn’t have time to miss her mommies. Tina called the house to talk to Angie but the minute she heard Angelica’s voice Tina started to cry and passed the phone to Alice who was with her at the moment. The only other person allowed to see Bette is Kit, she comes in to the ICU room, takes Bette’s hand, gives her a kiss on her forehead and cries. Its strange for her to see her little sister so pale, so still, so fragile.

Both Kit and Tina were with Bette when the doctor in charge of Bette’s case, came to check on her.

Doctor- Good morning Tina. (Walking to Bette) Oh! Good morning Ms. Porter, I didn’t see you there.

Kit- hello doctor. No worries…So how’s my little sister? (she said this after watching the doctor check out Bette)

Doctor- Well Bette’s condition, unfortunately, is the same. Last night we checked her breathing and she still has to be attached to the respirator, her lungs are not responding on their own. We stopped the blood transfusions, the antibiotics are doing their job, so far there hasn’t been any serious infection and the wounds from the bullets are healing nicely. Our main concern right now is with the coma. If she were awake we would know more.

Kit- what do you mean, know more? Are there any other risks aside from the ones she’s already presenting?

Doctor- There are always more risks that can present themselves after a patient is stable, more if there has been a considerable loss of blood, like in Bette’s case. Right now my concern is her breathing, but there’s also the possibility of her loosing movement in her left arm due to the loss of blood and dead tissue. But right now the thing that concerns me the most is the coma. If she doesn’t come out of the coma in the next 4 days or so there could be more risks…

    1. While I understand the girls comments about B being stubborn and saying they’ll kick her butt over it, I think they need to eliminate those thoughts and focus on positive ones and when she wakes up, being grateful that they were given a second chance with her. Making those comments about her stubborness could be taken negatively and be construed as blame and those thoughts will certainly not help B. Hope T changes her mind and at least takes a short rest from the hospital and spends some time with Angelica to get her ready to see her Mama B. Thx and PPS!

    2. Thanks for the update. It’s such a hard place to be… The long wait until her eyes open. Maybe Angie’s voice and presence will motivate her to return. We can only hope.
