“Good morning, The Bette Porter Gallery, Shelly speaking.”
“Shelly? Hi, this is Tina, Tina Kennard.”
“Oh hi” she said into the phone, not completely able to hide the surprise in her voice.
“How are you?” asked Tina.
“Uh, pretty good. It’s first thing Monday morning so that should pretty much say it all, right?”
“I guess so” chuckled Tina. “How are things going there today?”
“Off to a running start” she answered.
“Oh yeah?” asked Tina. “Is that a good thing or a bad thing?”
“Depends on which of us you ask” she said, “Bette or me.”
“Well, I guess I’ll leave that for the two of you to work out” smiled Tina. “Speaking of Bette, is she available by chance?”
“Five minutes ago, I would have said yes, but now, I’m afraid not.”
“Not great timing on my part then” said Tina. “When will she be free?”
“I’m not really sure. She just had an unexpected visitor drop by and so I don’t know how long they’ll be.”
Biting her lip, Tina forced herself not to ask who it was that had come by to see Bette. She knew it was not her business and didn’t want to put Shelly in an awkward position.
“Ok” sighed Tina. “Will you have her call me when she’s available?”
“Of course, but do you want her voicemail?”
“Yeah, that would be great but will you also be sure to let her know that I called? I know how she is about checking messages.”
“I’m beginning to believe that you actually do know Bette Porter” laughed Shelly.
“That I do” chuckled Tina, “that I do.”
“Ok then, hold on one second and I’ll put you through. Have a good day, Tina.”
“S
Waiting for the beep following Bette’s voice asking for a message to be left she said, “Hey Bette, it’s me, Tina. I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your coming by Saturday night and the gift that you brought? I can’t even put into words what it means to me. I’m not entirely convinced that it should be with me though but I guess we can talk about that. I also wanted to see when you were available to get together this week. Can you give me a call so that we can set something up? I’m around most of the day and so if you don’t reach me here at the house, will you try my cell? I’m really looking forward to getting together, Bette, and so hope to hear from you soon. Well, that’s it. Call meplease.”

Bette’s trying to distance herself from her and Tina, but it’s not really working. Ignoring it insteading of dealing with it is entirely different and can be quite difficult. Hopefully, Tina can get her to open up. Please continue.

Amazing chapter…you have the hability to put us right in the moment and feel the emotion they are both experiencing…I feel bad for them, they are both hurting so much… I hope Bette can be the bigger persone and hear Tina out and not do to Tina what was done to her…post real soon.

Skip, I’m a new convert. You are converting me back to being a lover of Tina’s character in this story. The chapter is rich with emotional intrigue. Seems like DL95 and I had the same idea this week. I love to re-visit your stories, they are classics. Tipping my hat to Techgal, she says it best.

Just because she doesn’t think about it… or admit to thinking about it doesn’t mean that it’s not what should be. You can try to ignore love but in the end it’s the only thing that counts. Even if you can’t act on it at the time.

I love how there is such a great roll reversal in this stroy. Tina as the fighter for Bette’s love and trust. It’s a nice change of pace. I can’t wait to hear what T has to say to B about why she left in the middle of the night.Please post soon. Keep up the great work!
