“It’s great, Bette” she said and meant it. It wasn’t like she was expecting to share Bette’s bedroom right off the bat, but hoped that perhaps that was where they would end up at some point.
“Bathroom is over there” she said as she pointed to a doorway off of the bedroom. “It gets cool at night but with the windows open” she said as she walked over and opened both of them, “you can hear the ocean.”
“That’s wonderful” Tina said with a big smile on her face. “I love it.”
“You’re sure?” Bette asked a bit nervously.
“Of course I’m sure, baby. Why wouldn’t I be?” she asked as she walked over and draped her arms around Bette’s shoulders.
“I guess” she said as she looked down at the floor between them. “I guess I just wasn’t really sure what you were going to be expecting.”
“Baby, look at me” Tina said as she cupped Bette’s jaw, pulling her face up so that she was facing her.
“No expectations, ok? From either of us? I just want to be with you and if that means that it’s from across the hall, than so be it. I meant it when I said one step at a time. Let’s just let this weekend play out how it’s going to play out. I’m sure that both you and I will figure out where we want to take things. Ok?”
“Ok” smiled Bette. “Sounds fair” she said as she pulled Tina into a big hug.
“I don’t think this tour is quite finished now is it?” teased Tina.
“Right” said Bette as she released Tina from her hold. “C’mon.”
Leaving Tina’s room, they went back in the hallway and down a bit on the other side was Bette’s room.
“Wow” said Tina as they walked into Bette’s room. The room was not all that much bigger than Tina’s but the views were amazing, floor to ceiling windows looking out directly to the ocean. The private deck that was off the bedroom was accessed by a sliding glass door and Tina immediately made her way out there.
“Baby” she whispered as she felt Bette standing next to her. “This is amazing.”

Excellent Skip. Just beautiful.We’ve been waiting for so long, and voila,you surprised us. Can’t wait to read more about Tina’s visit to Carmel. They are absolutely adorable.It’s nice to know that even though Bette moved, they still have so much love for eachother. Well I’d call you a tease, but it was worth the wait. One quibble, though. When the guy asked Tina if she needed help, she had the perfect opportunity to say “Take me to your leader.” How could you pass that up? But otherwise, well, you know, it was great. I know infants can keep one busy, but can you supply our fix a little more often? Over here jonesing.

They are making progress. But have noticed that Bette never says Tina’s name when she says that she love her. Why is that? Is it because she is still holding part of herself back from Tina because she still does not totally TRUST her?

I sensed a sad undercurrent …
I know the storyline is different but this is how I see the characters attempting to reconcile (if at all possible really) after S3. Bette’s uncertainty and longing, Tina’s measured steps and gentle pursuit. Alas, the rushed episodes won’t allow for the relationship to unfold as you’ve carefully allowed here. Thank you for writing.

First, as always, it is truely wonderful to see a post with your name on it! I can’t help but to think that Tina is desperate and she might do better is she didn’t pull back a bit. Bette has her exactly where she wants her. I am glad that at least, they are together in the same place. Post soon

Hey Skip, Awesome to have you back doing your excellent storytelling. This is a real delight and pleasure. After all of the trauma of the past it was great to see the gals just take some time and be with one another. Kit was a class act as she saw through Tina and gave her the necessary push in Bette’s direction. It was pleasing to have the gals actually discuss how they were feeling and what they were thinking about. This prevented the Stuart dinner becoming a problem. Open and honest discussion is the best way forward. Tina’s surprise arrival was joyous and humorous as Bette used the well worn “a friend” line with the workmen. Chortle city! And then onto Bette’s place as the comfort and closeness of these gals was rekindled. I hope that the simple act of sharing a bed is the beginning of a beautiful relationship. The love is there but they need to find the understanding and compromise again. I adore yher tenderness and gentleness you created between Bette and Tina. Please continue and brighten my days.
