    Say Nothing Chapter 4

“I wondered if you would be early, on time or fashionably late.” Tina stood to greet Bette as she appeared in the small lobby of the hotel.

“I didn’t expect you to be early.” Bette replied with a warm smile.

“Our reservations are for 8:00, we can be fashionable late for that.” Tina smiled as she led the way to her Mercedes in front of the hotel. Tina liked to drive and didn’t much care for the fuss of having a driver. As they wound through the streets of Paris, Bette’s mind was wound through the many thoughts about tonight. Tina looked absolutely stunning in her deep red long gown and that fact was not lost on Bette. Tina’s blond hair was curled and pulled up in back but, still cascading down her shoulder blades. She was physically fit, her body well toned and slightly tanned. Bette was especially happy that she had gone back to her 15 mile daily run.

As they pulled up in front of the restaurant, the valet’s were there to help each woman from the car. Tina strode confidently into the restaurant slightly ahead of Bette and was quickly met by the maitre d’hotel.

“Good evening Ms. Kennard, we are pleased to have you dining with us to tonight. He took her extended hand into both of his and slightly nodded his head to her. He turned to Bette. “And, Ms. Porter welcome. It is so nice to see you again. It has been so long.” He took Bette’s hand as well. Tina didn’t look all that surprised that Bette would have been remembered. Looking at her, Tina understood how that beauty would be hard to forget.

Nothing like great food to bring an insightful conversation to a grinding halt. The ladies had both felt the flush of their red wine and knew that in order to continue their discussion of a possible US exhibit, food was a necessary evil.

As desert was served, Bette felt that the conversation was making some headway. She had been able to dispel most of the concerns that Tina had expressed. They discussed every small detail of why the work should be exhibited, how the work would be exhibited and when the work would be exhibited. Bette had thought about this for months before ever making the first contact. She felt as thought she presented an opportunity for Tina Kennard to show her work under her own conditions and guidance.

    1. I love this story. Both Bette and Tina are so beautiful, civilized, witty, and charming. I’m loving the details about art and painting that crop up in the story. Can’t wait for them to acknowledge feelings for each other…very very slow burn. Thanks

    2. I have no doubt that James can keep his mouth shut, but Bette made the rather fatal mistake of telling Alice she was trying to get Tina’s show… that can’t bode well. Post when you can, thanks.

    3. Hi, DJRK! This is getting better and better! Magnificent update. Can’t wait for your nest chappy. We are so loving this beautiful and different story. PPS Lucero & Marsha (JC’s Salsa Aunties)
