    Sensory Overload

I’d better get my thoughts together before she gets here. If I know Alice, and I do, she is going to be in full on reporter mode and isn’t going to rest until she has pumped every last ounce of information she can get out of me. At least I have a likely diagnosis to offer and according to my research, I just need to identify what exactly is the root cause for the overload.

Now, I’ve been experiencing these strange feelings since the moment I met Tina, but in much smaller doses than what I am currently struggling with. They had been manageable, but since last weekend my brain has been bombarded to the point that I am no longer able to function as a human being. I have narrowed it down to five specific instances that occurred approximately between the hours of 11pm Saturday night to 9am Sunday morning.

Saturday night started out like most others that we have shared since we started dating. We usually go out to dinner. Then, we come back to her place or mine and either watch a movie or just sit and talk until it’s time for the other to go home. We share an innocent and chaste good night kiss and call it a night. I was anticipating that moment when T would glance at the clock and decide it was time to call it a night. She always did this around 11pm. Something about her parents telling her that nothing good happens after midnight? I don’t know… I honestly had a secret belief that her car must turn into a pumpkin and she didn’t want to have to walk home. Truthfully though, the most likely reason being that she was not ready for a physical relationship other than a little kissing and hand holding and I have been as patient as I can be with her in that regard. I get it. I really do. I’ve been there, so I will continue to wait as long as she needs because she is certainly worth the wait.

Ok, so back to the story… We had spent most of the last hour sitting on the couch talking about our upcoming week and dreading the fact that T had to fly to New York to meet with the author of a script that she was trying to obtain the rights to. She would be leaving Sunday afternoon and would be gone until the next Monday. It would be the longest we have been apart since we met, and to say that we were not excited about the separation would be putting it mildly. I could tell that Tina had something else on her mind though as her demeanor had changed significantly in the last few minutes.
