Sleepless
"Are you going to stay here in New York long?" Dana asked, a little intrigued by Alice’s story. "Well… longer than two years anyway…"
"Probably not. This job was sort of a temp thing. I mean it’s great and everything but my home is in LA. I’m actually considering moving back in the next month or two."
Dana couldn’t help but get excited about this. After all she did live in LA.
"So we have more than insomnia in common then," Dana concluded, gaining a confused look from the blonde. "I live in LA too. I’m actually just in NY for a tennis tournament."
"So you weren’t joking about the tennis thing then, you actually play professionally?"
"Yeah," Dana replied, blushing slightly at how impressed Alice looked at this fact. "It’s not a big deal. I’m not saving lives or anything like that… it’s just what I’m good at."
"It’s a huge deal," Alice said sincerely, placing a hand on Dana’s. "Don’t put yourself down so quickly Dana. It takes a lot to get where you are. I’m really impressed."
Dana was a little shocked by Alice’s comment. She had never seen her career in tennis as anything particularly special, especially around people with more… intellectual professions. But what Alice had said seemed genuine, and Dana once again felt so unbelievably thankful that she had knocked on the wrong door the night before.
"Um… so what is it that you do exactly?" Dana asked, feeling a need for subject change. Not to mention the fact that she wanted to know everything there was to know about Alice… which was a lot considering that Dana had just met her.
"I’m a writer," Alice stated. "Well… a journalist. I’m working for the New Yorker at the moment."
"That’s insane," Dana exclaimed, causing Alice to laugh heartily. "You must be really, really good!"
"Slow down cowboy. I work in the entertainment section. It’s hardly brain surgery. But it’s interesting and gives me a little more say over what I write than in other sections of the paper."
"Still…" Dana said quietly. "It’s the New Yorker… they picked you over how many other entertainment journalists in the country. You must be an amazing writer."

Actually, I like summaries. It helps me decide whether to read a story. Some stories or pairings just don’t interest me so I skip ’em. I don’t read all fanfics including some that I open Thanks for sharing your talent.
brilliant!!!! they are cute. and you are a danish beginning expert. can’t wait for the next post.
My my my. How I missed this story, I have absolutely no idea. I went back to read “Road to Joy”, for the 50th time (and I’m still anxiously awaiting an update on!), and I saw that you had posted this story! I do have to say that it already has me hooked! :-) I love the way you write these characters, and I cannot WAIT until you update again. So please, to make my little Danish loving heart happy again, please update SOON! :-P
I don’t hate them either. They help me figure out if a new story is a danish story. I was pleasantly surprised that Dana told Alice about Tonya. Sometimes she has serious avoidance problems. I can’t wait for “2am tomorrow”. lol I’m also looking forward to your other updates.
dana is just too fucking cute sometimes. i was impressed too see her come clean to alice about her relationship w/ Tonya. 2 years of being w/ Tonya though?? damn… lol. i liked the bit about how she’s been trying to get rid of her for 1 1/2 years. hopefully alice will provide enough motivation for dana to break it off. great chapter! can’t wait to read more of this and your other stories
I have to agree with ackemat on this one, I was surprised too that Dana told Alice about Tonya, but I’m glad. Now she just has to tell her that Tonya’s a scary robot so that danish can get together. This is really cute so far, I love how nervous and anxious they are around each other. Danish beginnings are the best, and this one is no exception. Keep up the excellent work!
hey, very very good to see you back! love this one already. I don’t care about the summaries btw, since I read everything danish related right away, lol! Keep up the good work!
Summaries are not necessary from you Bo as we know that all of your fictions will be fantastic. Looking forward to your updates on Road to Joy and Soul Singing as well.
