    Kit wanted to make a dedication to her sister and had a special song in mind. She had given it a lot of thought because she didn’t want to put a downer on the party, but she decided to do it anyway. She signals Carmen that she’s ready. Carmen turns the music off and turns on the mic as Kit gets up on stage.

    “Baby sis. I don’t think I have seen you this happy since the first time you introduced me to the woman that had stolen your heart almost 15 years ago. You guys hit a rough patch half-way through and it took a while to get you back to this place but you made it and you are stronger than ever. I couldn’t be happier for the both of you.

    I want to sing a song tonight that I recorded several years ago with my friends in the Betty band. I think the words and the sentiment of this song are appropriate for the occasion but I know you might associate it with what was probably the worst of that rough patch I talked about earlier. I selected it for that reason because I want to change that tonight. From now on when you hear me sing this song you will think of this day and the love you have for each other and the love I have for you. I think you are both Some Kind of Wonderful.”

    Carmen puts on the music and Kit starts singing the song she has dedicated to Bette and Tina. Bette knows exactly what Kit was referring to when she said the song would remind her of what she termed the “worst of the rough patch”. For Bette it was not a “rough patch” it was total devastation and for a brief moment she had contemplated ending it all.

    It was before Tina knew she was pregnant with Angie. She was openly dating Helena and bringing her to social events with the gang knowing how painful it was for Bette to see them together. That night Tina brought Helena to the Planet to celebrate Kit’s grand-reopening of the club after some extensive renovations to add a stage and sound system for live bands to perform. Betty was the featured band that night and Kit got on stage with them to sing their version of the old classic.

      • evy, thank you for encouraging me to re-post it. I actually enjoyed reading it again myself. I had forgotten a lot of the wonderful moments shared by Bette, Tina and Angie on their journey to three hearts one home. It’s coming to an end. One more chapter and then the finale.

      For me it is like reading it for the first time.
      Their commitment ceremony was absolutely amazing, how they included Angie and all the people Who are dear to them. It brought tears in my eyes.
