    Aunt Bette has told me a lot about your life and your struggles with drugs and alcoholism. She has shared how you’ve overcome those addictions over the years and that you are now a successful business woman as the owner of a café and night club in West Hollywood.

    I am proud of you for having won that battle. I suppose I should be grateful to you for not exposing me to that life. Even though I missed having a mother growing up I guess it was better than having a junkie mother that couldn’t take care of herself much less a young child. I look at it now as you not so much abandoning me but protecting me and offering me a chance at a better life. Thank you for that.

    I’ve had a good life. Granny took very good care of me. She always made sure that I had everything I needed. Although she was angry with you she never stopped loving you. For that reason I never stopped loving you either, even though I must admit that there were times when I hated you for leaving.

    I’d like for us to meet face to face. I have already talked to Aunt Bette about visiting Los Angeles over the holidays. I am recently married so my wife Gina will be with me. I’m not sure how things will go from this point but I just wanted to reach out.

    Kit was sitting at her kitchen table having just read the letter. She was in tears when Angie came up to her.

    “Auntie Kit what’s the matter? Did you get some bad news?” Angie asked.

    “No baby. I just got the best news a mother could ever receive. My son wants to see me.”

    “Your son? You mean Cousin David? I thought you said we would never see him?”

    “I didn’t think we would but he just wrote me a letter. He wants to see me. He wants to come here for the holidays and visit with us.”

    “Then why are you crying?” Angie asked coming closer and wiping Kit’s tears.

      It has so many wonderful and emotional parts, like Lady sovjet already said, it brought tears in my eyes.
