Los Angeles – New Years Eve/New Years Day
The Kennard-Porters and the Porters were back in Los Angeles on December 30th after spending a very memorable time in Europe. Bette, Tina and Angie hosted New Year’s Eve dinner at their beachfront home. After dinner they walked to the beach and enjoyed the fireworks display as they rang in the New Year. Kit spent New Year’s Day with David and Gina. She drove them to LAX for their flight back to Boston that evening with the promise to stay in touch and to visit often.
Bette, Tina and Angie spent a quiet day at home relaxing after all the activities of the past couple of weeks. Angie opened Christmas presents from her parents, aunties, and cousins on New Year’s Eve since they’d spent Christmas in Athens. She was a very blessed child to have so many people that loved her. Bette and Tina put Angie to bed, then headed out to the living room to enjoy a glass of wine before going to bed.
“I have something for you.” Tina announced.
“More presents? Tee you’ve already outdone yourself with the trip, and the shopping spree. I’m going to be the most fashionably dressed gallery owner in Los Angeles.”
“Not to mention the most stunningly beautiful. But this isn’t really a present. It’s more like I’m replacing something that you gave up for me. I wanted to get it back for you.”
“What would that be?”
“Wait here.” Tina went into the hall closet and came back with what appeared to be framed art packed with corner protectors and shrink-wrapped. Bette could see through the plastic that they were the Kiki Smith prints that she’d auctioned so many years ago. Bette’s eyes filled with tears as she looked at the art pieces and then at Tina. She couldn’t believe this act of love that Tina had just bestowed on her.
“I asked James to try to locate them after you told me that you’d auctioned them off just to get the money to allay my anxieties about our finances. I didn’t know that you’d done that Bette. I know how much these meant to you. You made such a huge sacrifice for me. I just felt like I had to do this for you. I love you so much babe. I know I’ll never ever have anyone else that will love me like you do.”
“Tee…”
Bette didn’t have to say anymore. They fell into each others arms and they kissed and held each other. There really was no other love like the one they shared. They truly did have an Eternal Love.

The End of the story but the beginning of a wonderful life for the Kennard/Porter family.

It has so many wonderful and emotional parts, like Lady sovjet already said, it brought tears in my eyes.

You had every emotion possible that a person or family could experience and all surrounded by love. FANTASTIC. Can hardly wait for the sequel to see Bette and family and see Peggy express her love for Bette and her family and to see just how Peggy helps Bette rise to greater heights and importance in the worlds of Art and Business.
