Something so right – chapter 76

    SOMETHING SO RIGHT

    Chapter 76

Bette let herself into the apartment – it was 10pm and she had been hosting a Q&A session at her gallery with three of her artists. The event had been a big one and it had gone better than she had hoped. As a result there had been more offers of work for the artists and Bette would be taking her commission from any future sales. It had been a wearing evening – she believed in putting on a “ show “ and stage managing such a event took it out of her. At least Tina was getting better – she had been home two days now and it was a great feeling to snuggle up beside her at night and watch her sleep. Bette hasn’t been able to get out of tonight’s event but at least she was taking the following day off so she could take good care of her lover.

Tina had pulled the sofa out so she was lying on the bed part – covered by a thin duvet she had been watching TV all night. She had enjoyed it more than she would admit – watching trashy TV and eating chocolates – and all without guilt – no comments from Bette who could be a TV snob when she felt like it. The door opened and Bette stepped inside the flat, Tina turned – Bette looked as devastating gorgeous as always. She was wearing a black dress that was short enough to make Tina’s blood pressure rise. Bette smiled

“You are home early – I didn’t expect you home until midnight “

“I couldn’t stand all the small talk – James has it all under control so I left him to it – promised him a very big percentage of any sales he pulls off tonight – I just wanted to come home and see you “

“Bette- I am fine – you know that “

“I do know that you are getting better – there is nothing wrong with wanting to be with you is there ?”

“No – of course not “

“And I know that you are fond of these “

Bette produced a tin foil package from behind her back

    1. Good for Tina standing up to Alice, but it upsets me that she had to. I admire a loyal friend, but not only is Alice injecting herself into a situation where she does not belong, she was very callous to treat someone who is still recovering from a serious health issue that way. Please don’t make Alice so unlikable.

    2. Hello AllyE. I have finally managed to catch up with your marvelous melodrama. I just adore how Tina talked things through to a point with her mom. They have to communicate first and then start rebuilding their relationship. It was so sweet that Bette and Tina are going to exchange rings. It is really a commitment ceremony as they are pledging to stay together and be there for each other through eternity. A half way house to marriage as it is not legally recognized. Life is so much more enjoyable when these gals are together. Right on the Tee for defending her position and telling Alice to Step-Off. Perfection. MAny thanks for this goregous tale. I just love it all. Your Loyal Fan.

    3. Tina needs to take it easy, with her health… You know, Alice really isn’t that vicious. Yeah, she could make talking an Olympic sport, she’s someone that can’t keep a secret, and butts in a lot, but really, she’s kind and very loyal, and is quite capable of telling people what they need to be told, at times. Tina’s power tripping over the hold she has on Bette is way over the top. What’s she threatening Alice for? Telling Alice to butt out, yes, fair enough. But threatening to get Bette to withdraw her friendship… no. Anyway, Tina’s come up with a really good compromise, re: the rings… Hopefully with that and the house, Bette feels more secure. Thanks for the post.

    4. i think overstepped her the line with tina. it was okay to express her concern but then leave tina to it!! nice compromise at least both are happy and tina needs to take it easy! :)PPS

    5. Wow – great chapter! They communicated and came to a compromise – wow imagine that – I wish the show would of been a little more like this. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for these two – can they really keep this open and honest relationship up? I hope so. Can’t wait to read more – PPS

    6. wonderful update, ally! i appreciate Alice’s loyalty but she has to learn when to back off. love feisty Tina but maybe the “power I have over her” comment was a little too much. but then again, we have to remember how poorly Tina is right now (and how stubborn Alice can be! lol) The rings and the house are a perfect compromise at this point.

    7. So glad that Tina told Alice to “f” off, because she is far too involved in their lives for comfort. Also happy they reached a compromise on the “M” word. And of all people to make sense to Tina about marriage, her mother. I don’t think much of her mother but she does rate an A for this effort. Thanks for posting AllyE. Post when you can.

    8. Compromise, that’s a good thing. Alice needs to chill out, but I also understand that Bette is her best friend. She wants to make sure that Bette is not hurting. PPS

    9. I’m shocked that Bette agreed to returning Tina’s ring. Great that they came to a compromise, but it just seems like Tina is geeting her way. I think Bette is still reeling from Tina being in the hospital, but what happens when Tina is better and Bette starts wanting to marry her again? PPS!

    10. It’s GREAT to see this personal growth in Tina. I love how she finally put Alice in her place, talked to her mother, and soften her stance on her rift with Bette. PPS:o).
