    Soul Harvest: Chapter 48

Bette studied Tinas eyes and realized everything was there in her gaze. Tinas cool demeanor and nonchalant attitude was a farce and her eyes gave her away. But Bette would tuck that away and remember it for the future, never forgetting that Tinas eyes always spoke the truth. Right now she wanted Tinas outside to match her inside. Bette didnt want Tina to feel the need to act so tough on the outside and she realized it was her who brought Tina to that place. Bette wanted nothing more than to watch Tinas coldness melt at her feet, nothing but warm love left.

We have something in common. Bette replied.

    Whats that?

We both want the same thing. Bette gave a playful smirk.

Bette, now is not the time at an attempt to be charming. Cut to the chase.

Ok, Im sorry. Just trying to lighten the mood. Anyway, I want to run into your arms and never look back, too. Tina looked at her skeptically. Really. Lets do this together. If were together, theres nothing we cant get through. I made a mistake and Im asking you to forgive me. Please.

    I forgive you.

Tinas eyes welled with tears as she said this. Holding on to her control, she never let the tears fall but instead, clenched her fists, not quite ready to embrace Bette. Not understanding what Tina was thinking, Bette put her hands on her shoulders.

Oh, baby, Im so happy we worked through this. Bette leaned in for a kiss but Tina backed away.

Bette, I just said I forgive you. Theres a difference between forgiveness and acceptance. You dont understand that its not that easy to just allow everything to be ok because its not. What you did really hurt me and Im afraid to jump into a relationship with you now. Sure you say everything will be fine and youll never leave me again or run away but can I believe that? All the stories Ive heard about you going from woman to woman never settling down. What am I supposed to think? Am I just another challenge for you? When will you get tired of me?
