    Soul Harvest: Chapter 48

Her heart breaking with each word Tina uttered, Bette stood there in silence, finally speechless. How could she explain it to Tina? Everything Tina had said was true and she didnt blame her for thinking these things. But Bette wanted Tina to truly know she was a changed woman. The only thing she could offer Tina was her love and if that wasnt enough, then so be it.

Youre right, T. Everything you just said is valid. Tina looked at Bette in curiosity, surprised to see Bette agreeing with her. I cant argue that. I can only say that you are not every other woman. You, Tina Kennard are the woman Ive been waiting for my entire life. I was a fool to turn my back on you once and Id be a fool to do it again. I know that now. I have a past that haunts me, Ive been with woman after woman but nobody has reached inside of me and melted my heart like you have. I have new eyes and I see that the world isnt so lonely or empty as it once was. Its all because of you. Bette dropped her hands to her side and shrugged, drained of any other words. I can leave now if you want. She started to turn around.

Tina watched her walk away and stood there frozen and tongue tied. Shaking her head and snapping out of it, she ran over to Bette and tapped her on the shoulder. Bette turned around, a single tear rolling down her cheek.

    You forgot something. Tina said.

Bette looked at her with questioning eyes.

    This.

Tina pulled Bette close and kissed her. Fireworks went off and cheering echoed in the streets as the clock struck midnight. Confetti floated around them as they embraced, holding on to each other as if the world was ending.

    Happy new year. Tina whispered.

You have impeccable timing. Bette nuzzled Tinas neck.

Smiling, Tina had never felt happier. She took Bettes face in her hands and understood the meaning of working to find true love.

I think we both know how to kick off a new year, wouldnt you say?
