    Soul Harvest: Chapter 53

Either do you. Bette challenged her.

True, but youve never asked. Now Im asking you.

    What about you?

I asked you first. Tina replied.

Bette thought for a moment before answering. Well… yes Ive thought about having kids. I guess everyone does at one point or another.

    Do you want kids?

    Maybe eventually. It depends.

On what? Tina asked as she traced a finger up and down Bettes ribcage.

On if I meet the right person. This caught Tinas attention and she looked over to see Bette staring her directly in the eyes.

Have you? Tinas voice was quiet, her hand still.

Maybe. What about you? Kids, oui ou non?

    I definitely want kids.

No hesitation? Bette gently rubbed Tinas chin.

    Nope.

Well that settles it. Bette said.

    What?

Im hungry. Lets eat breakfast. She stood up.

Tina knew better than to push Bette, so she followed her lead, pulling herself off the floor. Work up quite an appetite? Tina smiled.

I guess you could say that. Bette patted Tina on the bottom.

    Lets eat granola and yogurt.

More of that hippie food, T?

Tina pursed her lips but fixed two bowls. They ate at the table, nude, holding hands across the table. Bette silently wondered what Tina would look like with a swollen belly, her head resting on Tina, whispering sweet motherly words to their little one. She shook her head, afraid of her own thoughts.

Whats on the agenda today, Bette?

    Other than you? Bette teased.

Tina raised an eyebrow. We could stay in all day and never dress.

Sounds good to me, although Alice might be upset with me if I cancel our dinner plans.

Sighing, Tina said, Well, we have until dinner then. I hate leaving you.

I hate you leaving. Do you think its normal that we want to spend so much time together?

Not sure, but I need you like I need oxygen. Cant help it. Tina cleared their bowls, bringing out two cups of iced coffee, sugar and cream in Bettes.

We could remedy this problem quite simply, I think. Bette responded, her brown eyes reflecting a slight nervousness.

Hows that? Tina sat down in her lap and Bette wrapped her arms around her.

    What if you never left?

What do you mean? I cant stay here forever. The weekend must end at some point. Tina laughed, rubbing noses.

What if you moved all of your things over here, your clothes in my closet and your car in my driveway? Bette asked, holding her breath.

Like, more than already is there? Tina asked, question in her eyes, apprehension in her voice.

    Yes.

Tina bit her lip and remained quiet, eyes scrunched in thought. I dont know.

Its just an idea. You can say no or yes or maybe. And it doesnt have to happen over night. We can wait as long as six months if you want. Bette said, tucking a stray strand of blonde hair behind Tinas ear.

Tina let out a deep breath. How?

Bette looked up at Tina, circling her nipple with her finger. How what, T?

Tina ran a finger up Bettes thigh. How did I get to be the luckiest girl in the world?
