    Soul Mates – Chapter 4

"I’m sorry, did you say you were from the New York Times?"

    Ivan nodded with a smile.

"Everyone knows about our engagement?" Tina asked with exasperation as another piece of information sunk in.

"You’re a celebrity?" Dana couldn’t help but ask, her words were laced with both amusement and fascination. Tina tossed her a look, silently telling her friend that she wasn’t helping the matter.

Ivan smiled and nodded as he held up his camera, "Would you mind if I took some pictures too?"

"Sure" Tina had opened her mouth to speak but Dana quickly cut her off as she rested an arm on the back of the swing and looked at Ivan "We could even give you a tour if you’d like"

Tina looked at Dana with disbelief. She had no idea that the brunette would be so on board with all this, especially since Dana didn’t really know what was going on. Dana turned her head to look up at Tina with a smile, the blonde returned it and silently thanked her amazing friend.

Ivan took a few steps back to admire the beauty of the Fairbanks estate, "Wow . . . this place is really something. Its just as you described it. Must have felt amazing growing up here, huh?"

Dana stood up and threw an arm around Tina’s shoulders, "Like a fantasy . . . a very descriptive fantasy"

Tina shot Dana a look, fighting laughter when she saw the brunette’s amused expression. Ivan watched the exchange between the two women with some confusion before Dana turned her head back to the man.

"I’m sorry, it looks like Tina forgot her manners" She nudged the blonde before walking over to the porch opening and extended a hand for Ivan to take, "I’m Dana, her cousin"

Tina smiled as she watched Dana and Ivan shake hands. The brunette opened the door to the estate with a smile and gestured for Ivan to step inside.

    "Shall we begin?"

Ivan smiled and prepared his camera as he stepped inside. Dana couldn’t help but tease Tina as she repeated the gesture for the blonde to enter as well.

"After you, Miss Fairbanks" She said with a smile before whispering, "you big fat liar"

Tina laughed and covered her face with her hands, clearly embarrassed. She knew Dana wouldn’t question her about anything until later but the brunette wouldn’t ease up on the jokes and teases anytime soon.

"I owe you so big for this" Tina whispered as she walked to the door.

"Just come to the fair and we’ll call it even"

    "Fair?" Tina asked with confusion.

"Yup, tonight and Bette’s gonna be there so I don’t wanna hear any excuses or else I’m gonna tell that reporter why they call you Tinnoccio"

Tina laughed at the nickname that basically praised her for all the lies she had told during her childhood years. Damn Bette and her clever little jokes.

As Dana gave Ivan a tour of the estate, Tina pretended to know everything about the house as she tried to hide her excitement knowing she would see Bette again that night. As much as she thought it was wrong to think about, the memory of the kiss was still so fresh in her mind. It was complicated and it was confusing but Tina couldn’t deny that she wanted to see Bette again. Along with the kiss, it became all she could think about.

Nighttime suddenly seemed so far away.

    2. So sorry for your loss, just remember the good times. The story is really wonderful and you are pacing it just fine. You did however leave us hangin’ just a little and I understand but, still I wanted just a bit more. Wish they would admit to wanting each other again and never having stopped loving each other. helena should have contacted Tina before announcing the engagement, that was totally unfair. But in the end helena will have egg on her face, at least I hope. Thanks for taking the time to post while in mourning, it is really appreciated.
