    Soul Mates – Chapter 3

The entire ride was pretty much a silent one since neither woman knew what to say to the other. Bette was at a loss for words and wanted to kick herself for it. So many nights she spent thinking about what she would say to Tina if given the chance. The words were ingrained in her memory, well until now at least.

Tina rested her head against the cushion of her seat, looking out at the trees that passed by. She turned her head to look at Bette, admiring the brunette’s confidence even as she drove. Bette’s elbow rested on the door of the car as she bit her thumb, her free hand on the steering wheel. Tina smiled softly at the familiar sight, amazed by the comfort she felt sitting there in Bette’s truck even after such a long time. Amazed by how good it felt but not surprised in the slightest, Bette was always the only one that made her feel completely safe.
Her smile faded with Bette’s next choice in words.

    "Like what you see, darlin’?"

Tina slightly jumped in her seat, it had been so quiet in the car that Bette’s voice scared her. She quickly lifted her head off the cushion as Bette casually glanced at her with a smirk. Tina felt a heat rush up her neck to her cheeks, embarrassed that she had been caught staring and hated that Bette could always tell even without actually looking at Tina. She pursed her lips and turned her head to look out the window.

    "You wish"

Bette chuckled a bit before silence enveloped them once more. A few minutes passed by before Bette spoke again.

    "So, how did she propose?"

Tina felt her heart stop as she slowly turned her head to look at Bette in disbelief. Surely she heard wrong.

    "What?"

Bette glanced at her with a laid back expression as if the matter didn’t phase her in the slightest, "Helena. Considerin’ her reputation, I’m sure she went all out when she proposed am I right?"

Tina just stared at Bette as a mix of emotions swam through her. That wasn’t a topic she was comfortable discussing and even if she was, Tina didn’t know what to say.

    1. When I read this story last night there were no comments, yet. Now that I’m back to comment, there’s nothing left that hasn’t been said. But what I was going to say last night was: “I’ll just wait here, because I’m sure you intend to fix this any minute, now.” ;-)

    2. I mentioned in my last comment that by luck I was able to “rent” Sweet Home Alabama from the library. But like dessert, I’m saving it for last to watch. Great portrayal of Kelly – I just realized how strange it is that generally speaking most everyone who watched TLW are such anti-fans of Kelly and Jodi, when the actresses who portrayed them are good friends with JB. Funny…anyway, thx again for yet another post & the fact that you make them SO long – I LOVE that :D Anxiously awaiting your next post & still can’t wait for the reveal on B’s success!

    3. Loving this so much Liah!!!! Brilliant B&T take on that movie. I was dying reading Kelly’s part, another brilliant take on that, making her a stripper. I can’t wait for more. Thanks Liah😘
