storyteller ch.5
Arghghg! The producer is TINA! Im interviewing Tina and its great so far. And now is as good as any time to give her a call, actually its the best time! So then afterwards I can tell you her initial reaction to the whole thing! Im doing this for you and youre not even grateful. Put the fork down and give her a call!!!
But
Now or never Porter.
I hanged up the phone and paced back and forth in the restroom. Two minutes has passed and it felt like forever. Tina was about 20 feet from me and I took my time walking towards our table. Her cell phone rang and I knew it was Porter finally. I dont know how she even got her phone number but Ill soon find that out later.
I sat quietly across from Tina and pretended to be jotting down something on my pad, while listening to her converse with Bette on the other line. She didnt excuse herself and I was glad for that. I looked up once in a while during the short lived phone conversation that nearly ended Bettes life.
At the beginning of the phone call, Tina was apprehensive about answer it in the first place, looking at the unknown caller. I couldve sworn that her face turned a bit red when she knew who exactly was on the other line. She seemed giddy, compare to my interview with her and didnt at all hesitated when Bette told her to come to her office to retrieve her earring. She said she was quite flattered that Bette found it.
When the phone call ended, something else happened. Tina hanged up the phone with a smile on her she didnt know she was showing. She deeply sighed and looked at her cell phone on her hands again, probably knowing that this phone call with Bette wouldnt be the last. And then the whole smiley thing faded away. Confusion suddenly showed up in her eyes and reality snapped her back to life.
Sorry about that
Is something wrong?
No. umm no no no. nothings wrong. Its just that I have to go. I completely forgot about time and I had a meeting 10 minutes ago.
Im really sorry about that. Its my fault. Sorry if I made you late.
Oh dont worry about it. Better late than never, right? Thanks for coming by, I hope I gave you everything you needed.
Yes, I got everything. Thanks again. Bye Tina.
See ya around.
I dont know what to think at this point. Is she or isnt she? Maybe Tinas just seeking out friendship and nothing more. She is still with Eric, a man for goodness sake. Maybe I just dont see it. The way Bette talked about her yesterday, she seemed to glow through Bettes words. And when I was talking to her she did seem to glow with her own words.
Maybe I just dont understand it, the way love works is very mysteriously indeed. And I want to constantly remind myself that Im doing this not for me.
But then it is.
Because I figured it out while sitting at that empty table on the movie set of, I am an independent film about guessing games of life and death, love and war. That if I truly saw love between those two, that theres still a chance for me out there. That my constant staring and studying every two legged creature that walks is not a waste of time. That every time I break and break again I can still pull myself up and not give up. That even if almost all the people I know in this whole wide world has never found it, that I cant find it either.
God, Im being sentimental and *****. I need to go find funny again or something. Make fun of someone. Make them cry. I knew just the person.
Hello Dana? Uh huh. Yeah, Im coming over.

I like this Alice and I like the way you’re pursuing this, through her POV. It’s different and fresh.
Thanks!
That was great, mixing humor and sentimentality at the same time. And I love how Alice bounced back from becoming sentimental at the end. Thanks for this, and where’s that next chapter?
