“It’s lovely.” Lottie said.

Several hours later Tina was sat up in bed talking to Bette who’d just got in from having dinner with Peggy Peabody and her grandson Wilson.

“How is Wilson?” Tina asked

“Ok I think,” said Bette, “quiet. Peggy said he’s taking it better than his sister, or he’s keeping it together for her, who knows.”

“Those two have always been so close.”

“Yes.” Bette sighed, “Do you think some day Angie will resent that we didn’t have another one?”

“I don’t think so babe,” Tina smiled, “I think she loves having us all to herself.”

“So how was your new student?” Bette asked “Is she fit?”

“Baby!!!!” Tina scolded. “She’s a very pretty young girl, and I’m not telling you any more. You’ll just have to wait to give her the once over when you get home.”

Bette grumbled, “Okay, okay. Is she at least what you wanted, I mean she has to have a few brain cells right? If she’s doing Pre-Med?”

Tina was silent for a few seconds, just long enough for Bette to pick up on it. “She’s fine baby, I’m sure she’s going to be very competent.”

“What’s the matter babe? Something’s not right?”

“I don’t know Bette, she’s very nice and everything but there’s just something about her. You know,” she paused, “she’s staying at The Renaissance.”

“The Renaissance?” Bette squealed. “Fuck me!”

“I know, and when I asked her about her family, they don’t live here, hell I don’t even think they know she’s here, all she said was that her father was loaded. No mention of a mother.”

“Well I suppose she’s nineteen, she can do what she wants.” Bette chuckled.

“Why are you laughing?” Tina asked.

“It’s nothing, it’s just I was thinking about me when I was 19 and I decided that I was going to make ‘Le Louvre’ take me on as a junior over the summer but of course no one there would even talk to me, I wasn’t even a Yale graduate then, so I convinced Melvin that I was going to go to Paris to paint for the summer and work in a little café. I turned up there one morning and then again every morning for a week, on the 5th day they hired me, probably just to shut me up.”

Tina smiled. “And the similarities between you don’t end there.”

“What?” Bette asked, not quite catching what Tina had said over her own laughter.

“Nothing babe, look, I’d better go, we don’t want a repeat of this morning and it’s late here.”

“I know,” said Bette. “I just miss talking to you as you fall asleep.”

“I know,” Tina laughed, “Angie said we should buy web cams!”

“We should!” Bette exclaimed, “We definitely should, and not for the reason Angel thinks either” she added, dropping her voice into a sultry sexy tone.

“Baby,” Tina whined, “Not fair when I can’t have you for another 13 days.”

“I love you.” Bette whispered. “Sleep well.”
