    Talice Lovers: Chapter 3

Simone laughs a little, ”Damn, you know me too well, that’s why……,”she catches herself before finishing her sentence, ”You got the drink part right after that Long Island Ice Tea I had now I’m feeling like I don’t want to be alone remember but honestly I didn’t know you were going to be here.”

”All too well that’s why we’re not together now.” It was after one particularly nasty argument they had about Tashas unwillingness to come out and acknowledging who she really was. Simone decided to go to the Palms Resort afterward and didn’t come back to their apartment that night. Although, the incident took place many years ago it still stung.

”So,” Simone says, ”I was headed to D. C. to see what I could do about that and here you are damn!” Tasha, laughs, one of those laughs you make in a situation like this…it’s not funny, but it is.

”Simone you know you will always be special to me always and I don’t want to lose our relationship that we have but I love Alice she’s who I need who I want right now.”

    ”Then where is she?”

”She’s in the room,” she responds trying to sound convincing like her and Alice didn’t just have a huge blow up fight but Simone knows better she could sense something was wrong in her voice.

”She’s in the room and you’re out here, uh huh okay if you say so let me guess you need space and she’s not giving it to you.”

Tasha laughs, shakes her head and continues, ”Well we won’t go into what happens when people give others too much space, “which caused both of them to laugh.

Simone looks at Tasha and her mind drifts back to the first time they made love. They had met in an Intro to Sociology discussion class in college. During class discussions Tasha always had something to say and she’d present it in a way that was cool it showed Simone she was a real deep thinker and she found that to be very attractive. Simone found herself looking forward to the discussions, even making a better effort to get to class on time hoping to get a chance to sit next to her in class. Tasha was kind of a loner, always on time for class, but very cordial when approached. Simone was outgoing, always late, and popular as people knew her from being on the basketball team. They had a couple of other classes together and Simone would study her never knowing quite what to make of her. They’d manage to end up at the cafeteria together sometimes and would share coffee and discuss class. Simone would watch her interact with guys. Tasha had her share of male admirers but didn’t seem to be into the game they were running like most girls would be who liked guys. She was nice to them but not quite there with them. The longer Simone studied her the more it increased her confidence to ask her out.
