    Thanksgiving – Chapter 52

“That’s a hell of a burden to carry. She can’t possibly blame herself for what happened.”

“We’ve told her that, but she’s adamant. We’ll support whatever she feels that she has to do in order to get through this.”

“Is she going back to the house in Philadelphia?”

“Yes. She wants to see what’s left of her studio. I removed all the artwork and had it shipped to my storage space at the gallery but after I found the chest I couldn’t finish going through her personal things. She says that she had a fireproof safe in the storage closet where she kept important legal documents, bank statements, investment portfolios and such. She also remembers having a safe deposit box in Philly where she stored her jewelry, some cash and other valuables. The keys to the safe deposit box would be in the safe at the house. She wouldn’t have taken any of those things with her to New York since she had every intention of going back to Philly. If Melvin didn’t remove anything from her studio then she should find it all intact.”

“Do you think she might want you to keep the house?”

“No. She agrees that we should sell it. She doesn’t have any more use for it than we do. Peter will put it on the market once they get it cleaned out and make the necessary repairs. The Realtor is suggesting February as a good time to list it.”

“Will you be going back with her?”

“No. I’ve been away from my business too long already. James needs me here and I don’t want to leave you and Angie again. I trust Peter will take good care of her. He’ll provide her with all the legal aid that she needs to reestablish her name. He’s been her rock emotionally. I think she’s in good hands with him. I also think it’ll be good for them to spend some time alone together. We’re just a phone call away if she needs anything.”

“How long will she be gone?”

“I think she’s planning to fly back with Peter the first week of December and will likely stay for two weeks. She’ll be back before my birthday and in plenty of time to prepare for Christmas. By the way I wanted to ask you something.”

I’m hoping that by posting less often I can stretch out the story for a few more weeks and hopefully come up with some new ideas to continue it. There’s still a lot more interesting twists and heartwarming moments coming up so stay tuned. Thanks again.

This was a wonderful emotional chapter and had me laughing and crying in equal measure as all good stories written by someone with your talent do.
