    The Art of Persuasion

Sometimes I wish inanimate objects were able to speak with people. Or at least hear what they say and do what they say. Right now I wish my phone was just that – able to hear how I tell it to shut the hell up and then actually shut the hell up.

Nonsense, you say? But that’s what kind of thoughts come into your head when you’re awakened from your precious Saturday slumber by the phone ringing like a beast into your ear.

I roll over and open my eyes, the sun is shining through the bedroom window. Ah, what a mood boost the sun is. The warm rays gently kiss my face, inflaming my soul with love for the sun. I grin and stretch my body. I don’t even care anymore that I’ve been rudely awakened by the phone at a possibly early hour of Saturday. Oh, right, the phone. It’s still ringing.

I reach out for the device and blindly press to accept the call.

    ”Hellooo,” I drawl out lazily.

    ”Hey, it’s me.”

The voice on the other line makes me spring into an upward position as I’m officially wide awake now. It’s Tina, you guys! My little Miss Kennard herself is calling me after a week of silence! God knows how much I’ve been thinking about her all week long, how I craved to call her and ask her out while sitting at work. But for some reason I just couldn’t muster the courage. The woman has completely disarmed me, deprived me of my self-possession and my charming presumption. She intrigues me to the point where I am ready to do anything she says, and I mean ANYTHING, to figure her out.

Smiling into the phone, I feel blood rush to my cheeks. ”Hi,” I let out in a soft tone. Oh my God, I’m shy!

”I’m sorry, did I wake you?”

Her concern sounds genuine, which warms my heart. ”No, no, I’m–I was just…you know, just lying around in bed,” I fib, immediately obtaining the desire to slap myself upside the head at how clumsy I am.

”Oh, okay. I was wondering if you’d like to join me at the park.”

”Yeah, I’d really like to,” I concur without giving it a second thought.

    1. Valerie:

THANKS, THANKS, THANKS…, what a wonderful surprise, you are enlightening my hard-working week, fabulous, I miss your stories, and this is a real jewel (I like very much the other too). Bette is all head over heels for Tina, and Tina is getting softer with Bette. It is getting better… Oh please, please we need the next chapter soon. Thanks so much for the update, looking forward to the next one.

    2. Hey Valerie,

      What a fantastic update!

I love the way you write Bette, she is so funny in her neurotic manners, but so sweet and giddy trying to impress Tina.

I am looking forward to the next update.
