    The Art of Persuasion

”I’ll wait for you at our place then,” she says before ending the call.

”Our place…” I repeat to myself in a dreamy, distant voice.

Clamping the phone to my chest, I flop down on the pillow with a huge grin. A combination of nerves and excitement floods my entire body at the prospect of spending time with Tina again, probably and hopefully longer than when we last met. I bite my lower lip to supress the urge to squeal like an overjoyed schoolgirl, for my inner voice says that it would be too childish even for me.

I jump out of the bed and hurry to the bathroom. Having taken a refreshing shower, I go straight to my wardrobe room, where I put on a pair of grey cotton shorts, a baby blue loose-fitting long sleeve and white Nikes. Then I pull my curly hair into a messy bun and apply some mascara to accentuate my long lashes.

Now, according to tradition, I’d have to succumb to what Alice calls ’a disease of beauty’, which is to stay in front of the mirror to admire myself for about as long as I picked what to wear. But this doesn’t even cross my mind as I scurry out of the room and then out the front door.

Can you believe it? I’m forced to break my tradition in order to see Tina at earliest convenience and the fact of it doesn’t bother me in the slightest!

She must really be something special.

It took me some time to get to the same bench, which I was sitting on while waiting for Tina last Friday. By the way, I jogged the whole way. And don’t you think I got fatigued or anything, because I’m, like, the most vigorous person on earth. Okay, maybe I just got a little out of breath and was a bit tired, but not really tired much, only kind of comletely exhausted and sort of ready to drop. Yeah, something like that.

To cut a long story short, sports are not for me.

I approach the bench at a trot, dragging my feet and panting heavily. My heart thumps so loud I can hear its beat in my eardrums. God, I think I’m gonna faint.

    1. Valerie:

THANKS, THANKS, THANKS…, what a wonderful surprise, you are enlightening my hard-working week, fabulous, I miss your stories, and this is a real jewel (I like very much the other too). Bette is all head over heels for Tina, and Tina is getting softer with Bette. It is getting better… Oh please, please we need the next chapter soon. Thanks so much for the update, looking forward to the next one.

    2. Hey Valerie,

      What a fantastic update!

I love the way you write Bette, she is so funny in her neurotic manners, but so sweet and giddy trying to impress Tina.

I am looking forward to the next update.
