    The Courtroom

As she adjusts her suit in the full length mirror, Tina catches a glimpse of herself. The image staring back at her is the perfect picture of professionalism no sign of the vulnerability, the exhaustion she feels deep within. She takes a steadying breath, trying to ground herself. Her reflection looks composed, strong, ready to face the day. But inside, the cracks are starting to show, and it’s becoming harder to hold up the facade of being the strong, put together mother. Some days, it feels like she’s playing a role she’s not sure she can keep up anymore.

Tina hears the faint ringing of her phone from across the room. She glances at it, her heart skipping a beat when she sees Bette’s name on the screen. For a moment, she just stares at it, her fingers hovering over the phone. She hesitates, torn between wanting to hear her voice and the weight of all the unspoken words between them.

The phone rings once, then twice, and still, Tina doesn’t pick up. She lets it go to voicemail, the sound of it echoing in the quiet room. She can almost feel the tension, the unresolved feelings hanging in the air, but she doesn’t reach for the phone. Instead, she sets it down with a sigh, her heart heavy with the complexity of everything that’s left unsaid.

Tina looks at herself one last time before turning away, her resolve firming up as she faces the day a head no matter how uncertain it may be.

    The Courtroom

In a grand courtroom. Bette and Tina enter from opposite sides, both with their lawyers at their side. The air is thick with tension, and the once inseparable pair now avoid each other’s gaze. Bette looks composed but devastated inside, while Tina has a quiet determination in her demeanor. Bette’s lawyer, Barbara Grisham, a sharp and commanding presence, takes her seat beside Bette. Tina is accompanied by her own lawyer, a polished professional with an equally commanding aura.

Judge: This court is now in session. We’re here today to address the dissolution of marriage between Bette Porter and Tina Kennard. Let’s begin.

Barbara stands, her voice firm and deliberate.

Barbara: Your Honor, my client, Bette Porter, strongly contests this divorce. She believes this marriage can still be saved and disputes the claims made against her. This is not just about two individuals; this is about a family, and the well being of their children must be taken into account.

    1. A great start to this story! I’m hooked already. I really like the part where Bette addressed the judge and then Tina spoke directly to her. And the part where Bette whispers to herself that she’ll bring them back together.

Looking forward to reading more. Thanks for sharing your story here!

    3. This is a great story! Nice job!
I must tell you, accidentally I stumbled on this one on another website and there this first chapter is much much longer, with Tina’s POV. Can you fix that, for other readers here, please?

      • Thank you so much
I’m really glad you’re enjoying the story and yes the longer version with Tina’s POV was part of an extended draft I shared elsewhere. I’ll definitely update it here too so everyone can get the full experience from both perspectives.
