“I told you that I would be soliciting the help of family, friends and even strangers to fulfill my random acts so yes they did help me to pull it off. I had to find a way to keep you at the airport until our departure to Barbados. Peggy contacted the Concierge to meet us and to deliver the bogus message about the delayed driver. I could only book a morning flight to Barbados so the only way to make the connection was to do the overnight from Los Angeles. When Peggy suggested using the airport lounge to shower and change; it worked out perfectly.

The hardest part was getting you to let me pack for you. I didn’t know how to explain packing beachwear for a business trip to N.Y. I was really glad that you relented and didn’t bother to go through the luggage. You know what you said this morning in the dressing room at the airport really hurt my feelings. I hated that you thought I was insinuating that you lacked sophistication or that you wouldn’t know how to dress appropriately to meet the N.Y. socialites. Why would you think that Tina? I’m so proud to be with you. Don’t you feel that from me? Have I ever made you feel like I wasn’t?”

“No never. I always get the feeling from you that you’re proud to be with me. You make me feel so loved. I’m really sorry about what I said this morning. You were doing this amazing thing for me, I guess it’s my own insecurities that prevent me from accepting things on face value. I’m always looking for an ulterior motive in everything.”

“Am I feeding your insecurities Tee? Am I doing anything to make you feel this way?”

Tina gets up and joins Bette on her lounge. She holds both Bette’s hands in her own and looks her in the eye.

“No babe. It’s my own issue. You have been so incredible. I’m the one with the past transgressions and you’re the one making all the grand gestures. I mean look at what you’ve done for me this weekend already and your gift of random acts of love and kindness. I feel so loved by you that sometimes I get overwhelmed and try to find reasons for it not to be real. I don’t feel like I deserve to be loved like that.”
