The Fast and Fevered Fall – Chapter Four

    “It’s just coffee….”

“As opposed to it just being sex.”

“I’m going to the kitchen now.” said Tina, exiting the room before Sara had a chance to reply.

Tina busied herself in the kitchen. While she waited for the coffee to brew she stared into the refrigerator. When had it got so empty? Just a few condiments and a half drunk bottle of vodka. Tina quickly shut the door. If she had been alone the temptation to use that vodka as a hangover cure would have been to overwhelming, but as it was, she knew that she shouldn’t. She looked around to see Sara standing in the doorway, studying her as she was trying to work out why Tina had asked her to stay. There was no reason for it, Tina, or maybe both of them, had gotten what they wanted out of last night. There was no reason to prolong it.

“What took you so long?” asked Tina, pouring the coffee.

“I was looking around your living room.”

    “Why?”

“To try and figure out what you’re about.”

    “And?”

“There’s a picture of you and a girl. She looks like you and yet….”

“She’s my daughter.” stated Tina, flatly.

“Is she….?” asked Sara, looking frantically around for signs of a child.

    “No.”

“Then where is she?” asked Sara, knowing that she was probing for answers that Tina might not want to give.

Tina looked at her, questioning in her mind whether she should give up this information. It had been so long since she had been asked this question her well rehearsed replies had seemed to forgotten. She so wanted to tell the truth, and yet she knew in her heart that it was too painful to admit.

“She lives with someone else.” said Tina, truthfully.

    “Her father?”

    “You should drink your coffee.”

    “Yeah, I should.” agreed Sara.

They both stood in the kitchen, an uncomfortable silence surrounding them. There seemed to be nothing to say and yet Tina already knew that she and Sara were going to see each other tonight. Maybe not in this context but definitely at the bar where Tina would find her solace. Tina watched as Sara tried to drink the scalding hot liquid far too fast. Tina wasn’t bothered, it was so long that she had been in this apartment with somebody else there was certain novelty factor involved so she wasn’t going to complain.

    1. This sounds like Tina is at the very bottom of life. It breaks my heart to think that she can’t get her shit together enough to be with Angelica. Life shouldn’t have to be so difficult, ah but then again I must be dreaming…What a nightmare this chapter is on so many level. But the writing is excellent, thankyou. I have to also say that each time I see your posting I shiver wondering what your serving us now…but I have to read.

    2. Don’t always comment, but always read your stories. This one is so intriguing, I’m anxious to see the next post! FIlling in these blanks will certainly be entertaining. This is an interesting side of Tina. Thanks for writing!

    3. It’s interesting to see Tina in a position of despair for once rather than Bette… this is a very intriguing story; I can’t wait to see where you’re going with this!

    4. such a depressing story…i hope angelica is with bette…tina is soooo down…i need some hope and happiness for B&T, i hope this story will get there…i’m reading either way though, it’s very intriguing

    5. Excellent as always. Tina’s state of mind is rather heartbreaking, I don’t know how she really got to this stage, but hopefully you’ll flesh out this tale. You know you’re good when you leave such an impact on your readers…everyone wants to know HOW!

    6. Wow! Gotta admit I’m kinda depressed. But I want to see where this is going. where’s Bette and Angelica? Any remote possibility that our girls will reunite?

    7. Tina sounds like she desperately needs a friend. She’s certainly not found one at the bottom of a bottle. I quite like this story, depressing as it is. Post soon.
