Marina stood on the small balcony looking over the water; her hands holding a small box addressed to Jenny.  She ached to call her, talk to her but she couldn’t, not yet.  There were too many things to say.  She blinked back a tear that was ready to spill from her eye, and she turned on her heels and walked back into the villa.

Jenny sat silently in her kitchen, fiddling with the letter that Marina had left her 4 days before.  Why in the world hadn’t she found the courage to at least tell Jenny about what was going on?  Didn’t Marina know that she loved her enough to stand by her no matter what?  It was Wednesday morning, she was supposed to be in the office at LA Magazine, prepping her half of the story about successful LA women, but Alice had been covering for her.  Sweet Alice, thank goodness she had her in her corner.

She pulled her knees up to her small chest, hugging them as the tears threatened once again, she pulled in sharp breaths as she tried to steady herself.  Her hands shook all the time; and she was having trouble focusing on any task.  Her thoughts were encompassed with Marina.

A knock at the door; and Jenny bolted up, almost tripping on her own two feet, and ran to the door to be greeted by a sharply dressed man, holding a small box.

“Jenny Schecter?”  The man asked; and Jenny nodded, tears almost spilling over.

“This is for you ma’am.”  He handed her the box; and Jenny signed for it, her hand shaking as the tip of the pen scribbled her name.

“Thank you.”  She said and closed the door, she sat down and ripped the box opened to find a card, graced with Marina’s elegant hand writing.

“My dearest Jenny.  Please gather the ‘girls’ at the Planet after hours tonight and give them the contents of this box.  There is a letter for each of you; I will see you soon Jenny my love, this I promise.”  Jenny read out loud to the empty room, her voice echoing in the room.
