The Greatest Love Story Ever Told
“What, are her eyes painted on”
“Apparently so”
“So, I’m confused why didn’t you just spell it out” Al asked
“Because” Tina answered defiantly
“Because?” Al said questioning Tina’s reasoning
Tina for a second regretted her decision to leave Bette this morning in a huff, then thought no stuff it if Bette wasn’t so damn stubborn about getting her eyes checked, then none of this would be an issue “Just because” she said storming away back towards the kitchen.
Bette arrived home just as Al was leaving their bedroom still shaking her head, she could bang their heads together sometimes one was as obstinate as the other was stubborn.
It didn’t take a genius to figure Bette had come home like a bear with a sore head, time for a sharp exit Al wisely decided minus any age related witty remarks she would otherwise have bestowed on the birthday girl.
Bette approached Tina in the kitchen with trepidation, every step she took only adding to the pounding in her head.
Tina watched her approach and shook her head “You have a headache don’t you”
“A little”
“Liar”
“Ok, I’ll go before the holidays I promise” Bette conceded, she was getting to the point where she was hoping it was only her eyes that caused these headaches.
Tina sighed as concern mixed with guilt over her childish behaviour this morning washed over her “I’m sorry” she said “I had an asshole moment” Tina considered coming clean to the cause of her conduct this morning, however if Bette did indeed do as she promised, it could keep.
The following day Bette arrived home before Tina not bothering to return to the gallery after her appointment at the opticians. She strolled into the bedroom, removing her newly acquired eye wear from her purse, she studied her reflection in the mirror once she put them on.
Maybe Tina had been right, she had to admit she did look rather sexy, in a professor kind of way, happy with the effect, she glanced over to her birthday present, wow she thought, it was even more stunning now that she could see it in all it’s glory. Studying it a little closer her heart dropped to the floor, did a triple somersault around her abdomen area, jumped back into her chest beating furiously.
