    Tina gets some words of wisdom from Lucy and Melvin.

     

    “I’m scared sis – how can I be scared of Bette “

     

    “Because you are an idiot – Bette would never do anything that you didn’t want her to do. There is no harm in just being alone with her and having some romance. Ella needs you to be happy with her other mommy and Bette needs you to be happy – she’s very concerned “

     

     

    “I better get changed – Bette is doing one of her roasts – she’s very alpha about it and she’s really good at it now “

     

     

    “So enjoy your wife feeding you and enjoy having the place to yourselves – you better get a move on “

     

    “Why ?”

     

    “Melvin is due in five minutes to pick up Leigh and there is no way that he will not take the opportunity to come and see his grand daughter and you as well “

     

    “He hasn’t seen her in a few days “

     

    “And he doesn’t like that – what are you going to wear tonight ?”

     

    “God knows “

     

    “Come on Tina – make an effort – for Bette’s sake, if you look good it will help you to feel better “

     

     

    I nod “ Maybe you are right “

     

     

    “I am right – come on shift your fat ass and we’ll find something that will help you feel better about yourself. Doesn’t Bette deserve you to look good ?”

     

     

    I nod “ Bette deserves the best of everything “

     

    “Which means that she deserves a wife who works with her -helps he work through her problems “

     

     

    Lucy gets up and crosses to the window

     

     

    “Melvin has arrived – want a bet on how long it takes to hear his footsteps going into the nursery ?”

     

     

    “Less than five minutes “ I say getting up and opening the wardrobe door “ Help me find something to wear “

    It takes three minutes before we hear Melvin going into the nursery and as the baby alarm is on beside the bed we hear him greet his grand-daughter. I turn it off – he can spend some time with Ella without us listening in. Lucy helps me pick out a smart but casual pair of black cotton trousers that fit me well. I think I bought them when my bump started to appear . After a lot of debate we select a white top that hides my belly. Before I put on my trainers I go into the nursery – Melvin is sitting holding Ella. I smile as I watch him. He is stroking her hair and just beaming at her.

    1. HEAR, HEAR, FUNNYONE! Come on, ally, reconnection time. Bette’s waited long enough. It’s odd how when you first started this story I could never believe BP as the POTUS but the manner in which you’ve woven this story w/all its characters makes it totally believable. That’s a true testament to your abilities as a writer. PPS and more of TLWing.

    5. AllyE, soryy about you and Cheryl, remaining friends is important, learn from it. Ms. Right is still out there somewhere. This was another great chapter and I’m glad Melvin had a talk with her and make her realize that how she sees herself is not how everyone else sees her and most especially her wife, who never sees anything but the beautiful, warm and loving that she fell in love with and married, and now the wonderful loving mother of their daughter. We should all be so blessed. Having someone love you like that is truly a blessing.Thank you for this wonderful story. I must go back to the very beginning, I missed the first few chapters.PPS

    9. It’s good that you and C can still remain friends after splitting up. That’s a great testament to your friendship and the bond that is there. It’s to be applauded. As for this chapter, what a way to tease us!!! Come on, Bette needs a little and so do we!! LOL

    13. Well I guess I´d wanna be Bette too, I mean who wouldn´t. I´m sorry about your relationship but that you part as friends also shows how much you mean to oneanother. I took a break from life the other day and strolled through your many stories. For lack of a better word: Wauw! Such amazing stories, such great dialogue – hope you never stop . .and that you spent the rest of this rainy sunday in front of the computer!

    15. Sorry about C, Ally. Long distance relationships are tough. That you part as friends is a credit to you both. Your Melvin is so much nicer than the one we got on the show. Kinder and wiser if not smarter. And still alive! Now how about a chapter of um, er, ah, reconnecting?
