    The Logistics of Romance

“Thank you. And you look beautiful. I knew this dress would be striking on you.” She smiled and continued. “Won’t you have a seat? I have your favorite.”

For the first time, I’m able to take my eyes off of her and onto the table. There are two plates filled with chicken fettuccini and two glasses of white wine. I look up at her and smile. She returns it before having a seat across from me. I stare at her. Not just because of her beauty, but I can’t believe she did all of this. It wasn’t our anniversary. It wasn’t my birthday or any holiday. It was just because. My eyes water in appreciation for all of this, for this beautiful woman who loved me. She reached over and grabbed my hand, rubbing her thumb gently over my knuckles. Her soft gesture helps me keep my composure.

I take a bit of the pasta, and it’s delightful.

“Mmm. This is really good Bette.”

“Made it myself,” she said proudly. “I’ve been practicing otherwise you know this would have been a disaster.” We laugh lightly. She is a terrible cook. We both know it, but this meal is impressive. I still can’t believe she went through all this trouble for me.

“Bette, this is amazing. How did you get ahold of those paintings?”

“A good rule in owning a business is to make sure everybody owes you a favor in case you need something. This artist owed me big time for getting her work into a show that made her a million dollars in one night. I called her, explained what I was trying to do, and she was all for it.”

“They’re even in the same places they were that night. This is incredible baby. I don’t know how to tell you how much this means to me.”

“You can show me. Later.” She says knowingly. We both know where this night is headed. And after all of this, she knows it’s going to be breathtaking. We finish our meal and stare longingly at each other. I can’t take my eyes off this beautiful woman.

“Why don’t we get out of here.” She says with a smirk.

“Wait, what about these plates and this table and..”

    2. Great! Just great! With a warning like that I can’t possibly read this at work! But this is going to kill me knowing it’s waiting…we’ll see if I can wait for the remaining 8 hours of my shift. Doubtful, very doubtful. LMAOOOO!
